She appeared in films with both the Three Stooges and the Marx Brother early in her career. With her real life spouse she did the radio show My Favorite Husband before they moved on to a successful television series. The show’s 1953 episode where she had a baby was the highest rated show in history, at that time. Shortly before her death, she had her last television appearance at the 1989 Academy Awards. His parents divorced when he was 5 and he spent his childhood in various California houses whenever his father remarried. He debuted in a horror movie, before landing a television series where he dressed in drag. Having starred in comedic and dramatic parts, he wrote and directed a film about a make-believe rock band, for which he wrote music. He is one of five actors to win back-to-back Academy Awards. His career began as a director and consultant for mining companies, about which he wrote a textbook. During World War I, he oversaw relief efforts in Europe, and aided American citizens in their return to the United States. A year after he was elected president, the stock market crashed and many people thought him ineffectual in dealing with the Depression. Better known for her commitment to the civil rights movement, she has a degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. With her husband, she worked on both the Montgomery bus boycott and on the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. After her husband died, she started a center to study nonviolent social change in his name. After lobbying or fifteen years, she had her husband’s birthday made a national holiday. Who Could It Be? She was part of a song-and-dance act, with her sisters, by the age of four. The Marx Brothers gave her a part in one of their films for her debut, and she sang in nightclubs in the 1940s and 1950s. Two of her best-known films are Porgy and Bess, and Carmen Jones. She was the first black actress to be nominated for an Academy Award, but roles were still hard for her to find. At the age of 11, he went to live on the streets of Philadelphia after a fight with his father. He began a vaudeville career as a juggler and as a silent movie star. After talking movies appeared, he wrote and starred in many comedies. Most of the characters he created where sarcastic, booze loving, child haters. A newspaper editor, and later a bicycle designer in Dayton, Ohio, he gained fame in 1903 for getting his flying machine in the air for 59 seconds. The daughter of India’s first prime minister, she took over her father’s duties in 1966 for a controversial reign. With his father and uncle, he spent 24 years traveling through the Middle East, Asia, and across the Gobi Desert. A native of Crystal City, Missouri, he attended Princeton University, played on the 1964 United States Olympic basketball team, and spent two years at Oxford. He was elected to the United States Senate in 1978, and encouraged civil rights and energy conservation. During his term in the Senate, he was the only Senator to be in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
