Monday Night Hangover

Venue: Baton Rouge River Center Arena - Baton Rouge, LA
Date November 14, 2005
Deadline 10
:00 PM CST-USA [24-hour rule]
Theme: "Right Now" by KoRn

*Anyone that doesn't RP will be released from BUD.

-Main Event-
Leaky Format vs Taylor Lynn
Regular Bout
Stips: N/A
Backstory:  Leaky has been lacking and Rayne did mention during the MITB that she was going to start giving him a challenge and if he didn't jump at the opportunity to sharpen his skills he'd be released...what a way to show him she means business.  Rayne has scheduled Leaky against one of the mst notorious females in BUD today - none other than the bad mouth, bad attitude, devilish diva - Taylor Lynn.  Will Leaky step up his game to prove that he belongs in BUD or will The Queen Bitch be shipping him off back to training camp?

WINNER:  Taylor Lynn

Damn, was this close. To be completely honest, I didn't expect it to be anywhere NEAR close. But Leaky pulled out his "A" game and made this a challenge. He takes the award for originality and freshness here, with the "Leaky TV" post, the trip to the high school, the fake Taylor Lynns...he kept me entertained all the way through. However, he could try being a little less repetitive...and doing some longer RPs. Taylor Lynn was...well, she was Taylor Lynn. She set the scene, then ripped her opponent a new one verbally, like always. It's kind of a trademark...but to be honest, a little change of formula now and again wouldn't hurt.

What made the decision for me in this match was the little things, Presentation, grammar, word usage...the basics that few ever really think about. I had problems reading Taylor's RPs (dark blue on black is kinda squint-inducing), but she used banners and pictures effectvely. Leaky had a clean look to his posts, thanks to his lack of layout, but had grammer and coherence issues throughout. My vote, in the end, goes to Taylor Lynn, but Leaky was only a hair behind.

-Match 7-
Angel vs Rebecca Rancid

Regular Bout
Stips: N/A
Backstory: N/A

WINNER:  Rebecca Rancid

Angel's first RP was too short and filled with no dialogue whatsoever. It was all character backgrounf and thoughts. While that sometimes works out well, it doesn't when it's too short. I'm noticing a theme here...Her second RP was better. She finally paid attention to the match and talked about Rancid, making some good points and shifting the focus to where it belonged. However, both of your RPs, to me, were hard to read, thanks to a combination of a rather bland font and some repetitive punctuation problems.

Rancid, on the other hand, ripped into her opponent, her opponent's parents, her opponent's boyfriend...any target she could get her hands on right from the onset. The first RP was a nice combination of character development and match discussion...plus the use of "Rayvn" and "Angel" was well-done in an insulting and obviously character abusing way. The second RP was more butchering of character, which I actually loved reading.

What this match comes down to is how entertained I was and how much effort was put in. I was much more entertained reading Rancid's RPs than Angel's, and it was pretty clear to me that Rancid put more time and energy in her posts than Angel did.

-Match 6-
Vortex vs Dark Child
Regular Bout
Stips: N/A
Backstory: These two have a sordid past, both BUD Legends and the hatred between the two is very evident and their drive to kill one another.

WINNER:  Double Count-out

How pathetic is it that DC laid out the challenge, Vortex accepted it, and yet NEITHER MAN RPed?

-Match 5-
James vs Josh Drakman vs Rayvn
Hardcore Bout
Stips: Anything Goes
Backstory: Josh and Joey Drakman have made their way back to BUD after a bit of a vacation and James is working the ring before he actually decides to go for the gold, and the odd one in this 3-way dance is BUD Vampiric presence - Rayvn who's family just recently found their way to BUD.  Let's see if Josh lost his drive, if James still has it and if Ravyn can continue to show the fans and the roster that he's a force not to mess with.

WINNER:  Josh Drakman

Was the goal of this to post the shortest RP to ever win a BUD match? All sarcastic comments aside, this one was again close. James' "Fucker Report" setup was funny, but the rest of the RP fell flat. There wasn't anything about Drakman, and what was said about Rayvn was rather brief. Rayvn did a little better, at least talkin about both his opponents and going a little into what he was planning on doing, but it was just too short to really go anywhere. Josh's RP was slightly better than Rayvn's, as he responded to James' (lack of) comments and countered Rayvn's insults. plsu, it was the longest and most detailed of the three posts.

-Match 4-
Lucas Gryphon vs Akmed
Regular Bout
Stips: N/A
Backstory: Gryphon hasn't really made his mark in BUD but maybe starting tonight things will change...but seeing that Akmed is one that has climbed the ladder and has even gone up against the likes of Sean Hunter and actually made Hunter sweat, will he be the wall the Gryphon hits?

WINNER:  Akmed

This match was closer than I expected it to be coming in. Both men got some decent work up, though neither seemed to put a lot of effort in. Lucas' RP was well-written, but too short. There just wasn't much to it. Some would call it to the point, but I see it as just not enough. Akmed's "intentional losing streak" was somewhat fresh, though he didn't expand on it enough. There were also some issues grammatically with his RPs. He might want to watch that in the future, especially in a harder match. In the end, Gryphon just didn't post enough to get the win. Akmed gets it, and breaks his streak.

-Match 3-
Jatt Star vs Bobby Rude
Regular Bout
Stips: N/A
Backstory:  These two have really showed off a bit in the last show or two.  Jatt, the newest of the two has really shown that he might be climbing the ladder rather quickly and Bobby has proven himself to be gold material...what will they show against each other and if they are both gold material...what gold will Rayne consider for the two?

WINNER:  Bobby Rude

Jatt, you need to actually make some mention of your opponent next time. It doesn't matter how much you know about him or her, you still need to say something. Setting the scene is great, fleshing out your character is great too...but what wins matches is focusing on the match itself. I like Rude's gimmick, though this RP was probably the weakest I've seen from him. However, he made mention of his opponent and focused on the match, not on extraneous stuff. Therefore, he gets my vote.

-Match 2-
Curtis P. Price vs Jesse Malone
Regular Bout
Stips: N/A
Backstory:
Since Jesse didn't pull his own weight in the tag team bout, The British Bastard will show Jesse how it's done and maybe even secure consideration for the BUDvision.

WINNER:  Curtis P. Price (Jesse Malone didn't RP)

-Match 1-
Shayde vs Keisha Williams
Test Your StrengthBout
Stips: N/A
Backstory:  Shayde has been chillin' in the back not really giving the fans what they want...so we'll see if she's got what it take to go up against a member of The Cause.

WINNER:  Keisha Williams (Shayde didn't RP)

Changes are accepted before Midnight on the day the card is posted. Card is final after Midnight.
