Roleplay Here Brisbane Times On tour with Leaky Format Source: The Brisbane Times Written: May 30, 2008 From high school athlete to arrogant World Wrestling star, Leaky Format’s career has followed a varied path - to say the least. The current Budvision Champion will join fellow wrestlers including Kevin Sane and American White Trash on a BUD World tour 08 across Australia in June. Leaky found his way into wrestling via his Uncle’s promotion while he in wrestled in high school. "I love [wrestling], I just love every day of it," he said. "BUD contacted me through my Uncle’s promotion and they knew I had an rich wrestling background so they sent me up to Chicago, Illinois, where I did a work out for them and then they signed me immediately" At high school Leaky wrestled for his high school for 4 years while spending the summer wrestling dark matches for his Uncle‘s Country Wrestling Federation. He branched out to wrestle for several promotions across the Yahoo and MSN Wrestling Circuits, winning championship belts along the way. "I still get to wrestle for some of the old promotions I’ve been in so that's pretty good," Leaky said. Living the life of a professional wrestler working in one of the world's most high-profile pursuits is difficult, the Current Budvision Champion said, with an almost constant training schedule and travel around the United States and overseas. "Even on my off days now I'm still training, so I try to get into the ring and learn different stuff," he said. "We consider ourselves a big family [inside wrestling], some people have their own little cliques and we try to get along a best we can." When Leaky Format first began as a wrestler he was billed as a "Loose Cannon" and went berserk at anyone and everything. "My Uncle wanted me to be like this rotten kid who just had to have his own way. The crowd be booing me and it lead to the persona I have now" The Leaky One said. "The first night I did it [the gimmick] my nerves were through the roof and then every week after if kept getting easier, but I still get nervous out there now." The Leaky One might not go berserk much any more, but Leaky still looks forward to a even longer career in wrestling. "I plan to be here and keep wetting them down as long as I can," Leaky said. The BUD hits Australian shores on June 2 and will be in Brisbane on June 9 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. …the wet down continues |
