I'm just now starting to save things in png format using the PNG Optimizer. I can save a single layer image as PNG and when I reopen it - it is a single layer on a transparent BG which is what I want.

My question is: If I want to save a multiple layer file and retain the multiple layers as a PNG is there some way to do that? When I tried it using the PNG Optimizer and reopened it. It came out as a single BG layer.

I have always saved my tags as a .pspimage before converting to .jpg or .gif to preserve the layers in case I want to make changes.

Thanks, Kaye

I have never been able to save a PNG in layers, either. Sorry I couldn't help you Kaye, but maybe someone else will come along that might know how.....

Thanks everyone for your help. I did learn that png flattens the layers in multi-layer tags. It does cut down on file size for single layer images and preserves the transparency.
