From the Patriot Post  dates 12/10/08

"I'm going to keep [barack obama's] Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain.  You hear what I'm saying?  And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satiffied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seat myself....[The seat] is a f**king valuable thing -- you just don't give it away for nothing."  Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich in secretly taped phone conversations about filling 'the clown's Senate seat.

"I should say if anybody wants to tape my conservations, go right ahead, feel free to do it.  I appreciate anybody who wants to tape me openly ans notoriously, and those who feel like they want to sneakily and wear taping devices, I would remind them that it smells like Nixon and Watergate."  Hot Rod Blag (etc.)

_________________________________________________________

Now it just seems to me that 'the clown' came from this Chicago political machine that Hot Rod came from.  I have been telling the room of the sainted reputation of Chicago politics for months now.  If you can believe that 'the clown' didn't have a say, or a hint or even a inclination of Chicago politics and her totally corrupt group of thieves, then I have, for you only, a bridge in Brooklyn, NY. that I can sell you damned cheap.

To continue this chrade so openly says little for the good people of Illinois.  They will allow the good governor (Hot Rod) to appoint the Senate seat EVEN if he is in jail.  My God in Heaven, how insane can a state get??

Believe me Harold,we were all jumping for joy when this happened yesterday.  This governor is absolute joke inthis state.  It would't make any difrference what city he came from.  His arrogance is legendar here in Illinois.  The politicians here in this state are scrambling to do one of many things.  Impeachment, special election of a new senator and begging this jerk to resign which is what Obama has asked him to do.  Rod's wife is up to her eyeballs in this mess too.
He was such a pariah here that the Obama people wouldn't even let him speak at the convention in August.  No honest person wants anything to do with him.  He was never included in any of the downstate campaigns the past several years because that's tanamount to cutting your own throat, being seen with him.
He refused to live in Springfield, the capitol of the state so the governor's mansion sat vacant the past 6 years and he flew (at taxpayers expense) back and forth to Chicago which totally galled those of us who live down here.  He stole jobs from our area and moved them either to Chicago or to some burg in southern Illinois (probably because of a bribe).  He hated those of us in Springfield.
I can't believe he graduated from law school.  He reminds me of "W" in the brains department.
By the way, his power to appoint if state law so the law needs to be changed.  We can't even stop him from appointing himself, which he still might do.  Of curse, the senate could refuse to seat him so that might be moot.  However, never put anything past this jerk.  He acts like nothing is wrong and unicorns and fairies live under that toadstool in the backyard.
So we face this situation with a big "YEH" and get the bastard outta there right away.  Now we will see if he does the right thing and resigns.  Don't hold your breath on that tho.
Gotta get back to work.  Just popped in to see what the room had to say about this.  I was sick last nite so didn't do computerstuff at all.

Deedee, I find your response somewhat amusing for the following reasons:  #1.  You have Chicago, then everything else is 'down state.'  News, weather, sports, etal.  They have Chicago news, then downstate news in their broadcasts.  I lived in Peoria for about 2 years and am very familiar how Chicago treats the rest of the state.  #2.  If 'Hot Rod' has been such an a-hole, how come this is his 2nd term in office?  Could it be that the Chicago incubator [Mayor Daley and friends] wielded their corrupt friends ie: politians, to continue this chrade?  How much influence does the "Toddling Town" hold over our 'clown'?  Illinioans may believe he went through the 'system' and came out polly pure, but I sure as hell don't.  The sit-com has just begun.  Every day now, something has to be denied or defended that has come out of Chicago.  Gimme a break.

Yes, the I-80 thing does exist here in Illinois.  But chicago is like the elephant (no pun intended) in the room.  All the cities in the state still don't have the population numbers of chicago.  That's the main tax base of this state.  sometimes some people in Chicago treat us downstaters like we were rubes.  But I have many friends from Chicago who don't feel like that at all.  There is a lot of corruption in DuPage county as well as Cook county so most likely the politicians of both sides can't entirely blame Mayor Daley.

Why didn't they wait until they had Gov. Rod Blagojevich dead to rights? Until they had him on tape selling the senate seat, until money exchanged hands? Then they would have him and all involved. Now the news is saying they don't have much of a case as no money exchanged hands.

I see today that the MSM and the Chicago political machine is pushing the BS that 'Hot Rod' is a psychopath and should be institutionaly admitted.  Guess that stops ANY probing into his daliancieswith the Chicago mob and anyone involved with the group.  In other words, they are going to make it difficult, if not impossible, to open any can of worms that may be hidden.  I gotta give it to the Daly machine.  They certainly are experts at this type game.  I have no doubt Grandpa Daly set the Chicago fire in 1871 to start the Daly machine in motion.

The Sit-com continues.

Mobsters?  In Chicago?  Surely you jest.  Actually there are two groups of chicago politicians in chicago.  the old machine politicians and the reformers. They don't like each other very much.  Blago pretended he was a "reformer" but he AND his wife were true blue machine  people of the highest order.
