I'm sorry I haven't been posting for the last few months.
I've had a few problems.  It started with a pain in my side which was put down to a pulled muscle, I was given painkillers and after a few weeks I was sent for physio - nothing seemed to shift it.  It was a weird pain, not like a usual muscle pain and it made me feel sick, it would come and go - sometimes staying for 4 or 5 hours then just lifting.  Always worse at night of course.
Last week I had an 'attack' during the night and my husband took me to casualty.  By the time I saw a doctor it was easing and he diagnosed trapped wind and told me to take gaviscon.
Then on Saturday I had another episode and another trip to casualty where I say a different doctor.  He has diagnosed gall stones and has given me some wonderful pills called Tramadol which really reach the spot, so I'm feeling much much better.
I'm going for more tests but not until Friday.
Anyway, thats why I've been neglecting you - apologies.
DBarb

Good God Barb  Sack your doctors  lol   I had an idea it was gall stones by the second line, classic gall stone symptoms and one's your doc SHOULD have picked up on straight away instead of letting you suffer
Bring back the good old-fashioned docs who would rightly diagnose from just looking at you rofl  A lot of docs today either just don't care or don't have the time and just shove a handful of pills at you and shoo you on your way. About time they listened to what the patient says, or what they don't say.

Sry to hear you havent been well Barb I take tramadol for pain they are good but you still need to get a proper diagnosis Iv'e had my gall bladder removed and the pain your getting does sound very much like the pain and sick feeling I was getting before I had the op so dont give up trying to find the cause the painkillers will only work for so long Ginger.

Just hope you are feeling and keeping much better by now.

My friends hubby had to call in the doctor because he went off his legs and was in great pain.  His doctor asked him if he had sprained his ankle.........  Later in the evening my friend had to take hubby to the A&E  where they just admitted him and he went on am antibiotic drip for 3 days................... he had cellulitis and they thought it had gone into his bones.  He is at the moment 'fighting' his  GP to get a referral to go private and see a bone specialist for his legs.  So far no success.

Thank you all for your kind replies.
Pain is a weird thing to discribe isn't it?  The little foreign doc I saw first asked me 'what sort of pain you get?'    - what do you say?  - not burning, not aching, not stabbing, - err excruciating!  Perhaps I should have made more fuss but we were brought up not to exaggerate weren't we.
As you say, in the 'old days' you had your own GP who knew you and took you seriously.  I remember when my children were small (they are 48 and 46 now) and had measles, our GP just 'popped in' when he was passing to see how they were - that wouldn't happen now.  You can't be ill after 5.30pm or at weekends nowadays.
