An Ode To My Little Car

My little car was such a delight,
It took me there to see the sights.
It never faltered, never dies,
It never let me down, a trusty guide.
Duel carraigways, A roads, B roads too,
Not too many motorways, but we went on a few.
The engine purred, the breaks were strong,
But just lately things have gone wrong.

The old girl is dying, I hate to say,
But she’s not giving up if I have my way.
The exhaust went first, a great big hole,
But I got it fixed to save her soul.
She ran like a dream, a new life revived,
I thought that was it, she had survived.
One day I returned to find her ill,
I cried as the petrol tank registered nil.
A great big puddle under her rear,
I could smell the fumes as I got near.
So off to the garage, I sent her again,
A new petrol tank to end her pain.
At last she returned safe and well,
She suffered no more, did my old ‘gell.
Alas a month later, I’m afraid she did,
A puddle was dripping from under her lid.
The water pump had seen its days,
And sprung a leak in lots of ways.
I took it to the garage straight away,
Said what was wrong and could I pay?
A day later reunited again,
The car was hurt, my pride was slain.
She’s ok now, not perfect by far,
But she’s still alive is my little car.

I’m dreading it soon, for D-day is near,
Her bodywork rattling, just with the fear.
My bank balance is poor, I do not know,
Whether this time I can save her so.
The MOT is due very soon,
I dread to think about the doom.
If we keep fingers crossed, and brake pads too,
You never know, she might pull through.
