I was watching a programme on National Geographics Channel it pertained to Paul writing the book of Revelation stating what are the signs for the end of the days and would will take place - the apocalypse.  I believe in the prophecy fully, however i had difficulty bcuz i take everything in the Bible literally sometimes I'm told not to take the literal meaning as it is a metaphor should we take it literally in this case?

I believe that most of whats in Revelation shouldnt be taken literally, God thru John uses a lot of symbolism in Revelation, and these symbols point back into the Old and New Testaments, so to understand Revelation we need to look up what the symbol means or is pointing to.

For example, in Revelation we are told about some women, in the Old and New Testaments a woman is a symbol for the followers of God, Jesus refers several times to the church as a woman, and that the church is His bride.

God bless you t®íñíg¥al_fØØtßàll1,
Seek.

Hello seek,
if we are not to take it literally are we suppose to believe
that if we do not have the mark of the beast we would not be able to
buy...in other words we would not be able to survive..eat, drink or obtain
any essentials needed to live as we do not have the mark of the beast.

Hiya t®íñíg¥al_fØØtßàll1

Revelation give us insight into our future, but it is written in code, the keys, meanings of that code is in the Bible, when we read "woman" it means a church, when we read "sea/river/waters" it means peoples, nations etc, large bodies of people, when we read "beast" it means a world power of its time, all this information is found in the Old and New Testaments , so we need to know the Bible to even start to understand Revelation.

The "mark of the beast" primarily isnt a physical mark on you but is spiritual, its not a micro chip in you as some would have us believe, but is a symbol for who we give our authority to, if we are following Jesus we will not receive it, as we have Gods mark upon us, its those who are left that receive the mark of the beast.

So those of us who follow Jesus will come under oppression by the beast powers, sad but thats how it will be, those that dont follow Jesus and have received the mark of the beast will eventually come under Gods full wrath, i will much rather suffer a little oppression and then live for all eternity with God, than to have it easy for this short time and then suffer eternal damnation.

God bless you t®íñíg¥al_fØØtßàll1,
Seek.

Thanks Seek....as we are on the topic of symbolization u...i once heard a
lady in church saying that we seventh day adventists should not wear
jewellery as it distinguishes us from the beast...i can't remember the exact
verse she quoted in Revelation but she said that the beast was heavily
decorated....what's ur view on it?
