There is a hymn that I enjoy, maybe you have heard it or even sung it during a worship service. This hymn is entitle "WERE YOU THERE? (author/composer unknown). I have often thought of the simple yet powerful message of this beautiful hymn. It asks three questions:
Where you there when they crucified my Lord?
Where you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Where you there when they laid Him in the tomb?
I have taken the liberty to answer those three questions. This has not yet been perfected and maybe we can all submit our thoughts on how to make this a poem worthy of sharing.
I wasn't there when Jesus was nailed to the cross, but by faith I believe He died for my sins
I wasn't there to watch my Saviour suffer from the the thrown crown upon His brow.
I wasn't there to to see Him suffer in agony as the nails pierced his sinless body.
I wasn't there to bury Him, but I do know He died and rose again that I might have life in Him.
The chours :
Oh sometimes it causes me to tremble
My response
I tremble at the loss of such a friend, but my soul rejoices that He lives again!
