Sex should not be your own thing "and two shall become one" if sex is in your mind for you then I would say your having it for the wrong reasons anyway. sex is he ultimate act of understanding love between a Man and his Woman a  Woman and her Man, the bride and the bridegroom......hmmmmm a special intamacy scripture even alludes to between Christ and his Church, sex is about intimacy, intimacy is not doing your own pleasure its about relationships and that is what sabbath is all about; relationship.

Hey, I think that there are certain things that depend on the individual. The bible does not outline each and every little thing. I think certain thing, including having sex on the Sabbath, may be a matter of personal opinion. If you personally consider having sex on the Sabbath wrong, then don't do it. If not, I dont see a problem with it.

The Lord blessed and santified marriage and that includes sex, so think that you can.

 

People's sex lives vary in different ways.  I refuse to go into detail with this (and I hope no one else does).  But, the fact that you have to ask this question makes me think that Maybe the Holy Spirit is convicting you on this.  Maybe you are having sex in a way that you feel guilty for doing it on the Sabbath and then possibly later you will be convicted on having sex this way at all.

     Please notice that I said MAYBE.  If this is not the case with you, then you are the only one that will be able to figure out why you felt the need to ask this question.

Even if you are properly married, sex on Sabbath is a moral question.

Go to Isaiah 58:13-14.  Although it did not say sex on Sabbath it tells how the Sabbath should be kept.--from doing thy pleasure (what is that) on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable; and shalt honor Him, NOT DOING THINE OWN WAYS, NOR FINDING THINE OWN PLEASURE (ISN'T SEX THINE OWN PLEASURE), NOR SPEAKING THINE OWN WORDS...

That should be clear for all who love the Lord.

I'm sorry that I have to agree that sex on Sabbath is definately not appropriate!

 

I was quite surprised reading this thread, all the referances to sex and marrage as though sex is quite O.K. between married people! Sex is a self-gratifying act and animalistic. Married people should never have sex but "make love" only. "Love making" is the selfless action of giving affection and intamacy to one's spouse. This is not a sin, even on the Sabbath.

Having sex on the sabbath is no more a sin than eating on the sabbath.  However, if you find that eating or sex is "work"(for some people it is) then perhaps you could fast every sabbath from food or sex. It won't kill you to abstain from food or sex for a day.  Nevertheless,  all men or women cannot receive this saying.  As for Isaiah 58:13,14 this text should be considered along with this text Hebrews 13:4 if you're going to try to use it to justify "no sex" on the Sabbath.  Finally, here is a link to our SDA Bible Research Institute which may be of interesting to you:

Even though the marriage bed is undefiled by having sex is putting you in the flesh. In the flesh means that you are separated from Yah. It is a good bible study subject. I would say by my findings is that in the flesh makes you unclean. There are many scriptures to the subject. My answer is to make the sabbath as it should be would mean to abstain from anything that would separate or put you into a mindset away from Yah.

Since us literalists regard marriage as the divine institution of family, as long as the person you conjoin yourself with is your spouse, then the head of the family gets to take the plunge and decide what is best.  In many families, input is gathered from the members regarding matters of major consequence to them all.

 

Of course, the situation of thought is brought into the picture, as thoughts are deeds of the mind (William Penn, "Some Fruits of Solitude"), so aligning with Jesus view that thinking that is carnal, sensual, earthly (devilish) is not conducive to patterning our characters after the divine image (the life's work).
