THE HEAD OF THE HOME…NOT THE DICTATOR

Ephesians 5:23 says, “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”How is he the head of the wife? As Christ is the head of the church. How is Christ the head of the church? He is the Lord of the church, He is the master of the church, but He is not the dictator of the church. Did you know Jesus never makes me do anything? And sir, you are going to be in severe difficulty if you think that when the Bible says you are the head you read that to say I am the boss, I am the dictator. No, no, no. Jesus is not the dictator of the church. He is the head of the church. He never forces me to do anything, and any husband who takes that attitude of the dictator is going to see that his home is in severe trouble.

We talk a lot about the chain of command in the home. It’s not so much the chain of command as it is the chain of responsibility. To be the head means that you accept the responsibility. Sir, on your desk as a husband is a sign which says, “The buck stops here!?I want to tell you, mister, if your home is wrong it is probably because you are wrong.

I was sitting in a singles Bible study class last night and thought of this, thougth of my boyfriend who goes to church at a different denomination. It is a good church, but they do not keep the Sabbath. I sat there and thought of him as my head, should we marry, and I realized I would have a problem with the issues of the Sabbath. I knew this could be a problem, but lately it seems to have beeen more as he is off work that day and aways wants us to go somewhere.

I agree trinimitch,
It is important to choose a partner well.  Common beliefs, common interests, and common outlook on life.

You are telling the real truth Serarae.  I think so many men think that just because the Bible points out who is the head of the home; this is many times taken advantage of.  Even in the pulpit it is preached without showing a real balance of what that duty as a man entails, not only when it benefits him is he supposed to be the head.  Thanks for your insight even though so many try to ignore this part of the "head of the home" issue.
