On November 11, 1918, at the 11th hour, of the 11the day, of the 11th month, the Armistice was signed by Allies and Germans ending WWI, thus marking the significance of November 11.
In 1938 Congress passed the bill stating that Armistice Day, November 11,
"shall be dedicated to the cause of world peace."
After WWII, the focus of Armistice Day, which means "truce" changed to reflect, represent and honor all Veterans. On May 24, 1954 Congress passed, that November 11 would be a day of honor for all American service men and women, thus changing the name to Veterans Day.
Regardless of what your feelings are of at this tumultuous time, be sure to take time tomorrow to remember who we are honoring and why this day is significant to all of us. We are honoring our men and women, who for the love of this country and all within it are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. But what we are really honoring is peace.
I served 3 years in the 82nd and another 7 years in the Reserves and I am married to a passive little Canadian gal, opposites do attract And whether I agree or disagree with the state of our nation today is mute, I honor our men and women and I honor peace.
As they saying goes, "pay it forward," no matter how small, tomorrow November 11th, do something to honor peace, do something to create peace, be peaceful within yourself, thoughts have power.
To Quote a close friend of mine, whom some of you may know, Jon, screen name Storm Rider,
"Peace is Patriotic"
Pay it forward............Z
