The Law Of The Garbage Truck <o:p></o:p>

  <o:p></o:p>

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."
<o:p></o:p>

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so.....
<o:p></o:p>

oh i agree pita! ....in life , at work ,  on the road, in the halls of chat -garbage garbage everywhere !

People at 'war', *giggles*, people with no chocolate , people who need attention , the world is strewn with drivers hauling their monumental loads of garbage wherever they go.

When someone runs around making dramatic and patently false claims about something we have or have not done ... or simply spreading petty little gossip about others…it always amazes me. - Sometimes the garbage collectors are even predatory with their rumors, gossip, and out right dishonesty ... but the more they are ignored, they end  up isolated and entrenched in the stench of the garbage they haul around behind them . Straight to the dump with the lot!

i know we see other rooms & communities pat themselves on the back all the time for being so wonderful, so open , such fonts of education  and thinking.... - This time im stepping up to give us  a small pat on our back. For four years now we have had a place to call home. A place that has stood the test of time and is still a lot of fun (when we are all awake hehe)- A place that seems to exist happily outside all the Garbage some people have over the years tried to  bring our way.

The Garden was made to be exactly as we keep it - somewhere where our friends and the people we love can come and enjoy each others company. - i am very proud of the fact that the people who  call this place theirs are quite simply a group of friends- we dont necessarily always have 'like minds' we dont necessarily always agree- but like good friends we are reasonable with each other, we take care of one another and we respect each other -  Yes, we have to do a bit of weeding occasionally ?haha ! yes! there is the odd bit of fertilizer used.   Yes, our Waste Management team helps keep the place clean... but it is all worth the effort! The flowers bloom again and again - the air smells sweet, the chocolate flows, and the good music plays on... and if people dont like it they can see the complaint department?they best take a number, dev is pretty busy these days.
With much love always,
Steels pet

LOL DEV!!!!

That is one piece of garbage i am printing off and taking to work.

Since changing roles at work i am now in a "front office' situation, which has its plusses and minuses.  One big plus is the day to day contact with the kids and the feeling that the small things i do (eg smiley faces on bandaids) makes a little difference for someone.

On the minus side, is that you're the one that cops the unreasonable, really angry and scary disgruntled parent, relative, community member, who will walk up and chew you up and spit you out.  By the time they get to the staff member they need to discuss the problem with ...... they're feeling better.   They've ranted and raved and done all the loud stuff towards the first person they encounter and they feel good for doing so.   Once that would have really affected me, opend up old stuff (my garbage) and caused long past events to fester.   These day's i'm a bit more of a 'teflon girl' and i let most of it slide off and once the situaiton is difused and on its way i break out the chocolate, or some inappropriate humour (or both)  .. the aussie way of dealing with things.

I think this is because i have been offloading some of the garbage in my life, mental and physical and it feels good.  I hope to  maintain some momentum during the fast-approaching winter, a time where i really struggle.  But hopefully with a lighter load it will be easier.
