Bettie Page died of a heart failure today at the age of 85.  Bettie was a true pioneer, icon, and star, in the world of sensuality, sexuality, and kink.  During the 1940’s and 50’s she posed for an endless number of scantily clad as well as nude pin up photos. She also made pictorials as well as short films that stand as testimony that fetish, bondage, S&M, and other kink existed in heterosexual circles and not just the gay community.  Estes Kefauver, who chaired the famous televised Senate hearings into La Cosa Nostra, also focused an investigation on Bettie and the “perversions�?she displayed to the public.  Shortly afterward she left New York and retired from modeling.
