Barren branches
Twisting and turning in the wind
One lone leaf
Frail
Clinging desperately
On the wind's furious tail
One day soon
As he watches
He knows
Without fail
It will succumb
Blown away
To where the soul resides
When life on earth is done
Fear
Anger
Sadness
What does one say
What does one do
But watch and hope
That the wind abates
Allowing that leaf to cling
A little longer
One more day
For tis not just a leaf
It is his soul
His life
