Find Out If Something Is Copyrighted
Here is how to find that out if an item has a copyright:
-
Size your browser window so it does not occupy the entire screen.
-
Start Notepad
-
Move the Notepad window so you can see just a bit of it next to your browser window.
-
Drag the image to the Notepad window
-
If you get a message asking if you want to use Wordpad because the file is too large for Notepad, click Yes.
-
Click on the Notepad window.
-
Look for any copyright statements in the text.
There are frequently text messages near the top and also at the bottom. Many artists include a web address to make it easy for you to ask for permission to use the item. The messages are most often found in animated GIF's, since the structure supports them. But you will sometimes find information hidden in photos and other graphic files.
