Installing Plug Ins

Note: These instructions are general for most plug-ins, however some plugins have there own installation instructions

This is the best way I have found to install your plug-ins in your PSP program without overloading your PSP program and perhaps causing your PSP program to bog down.

When you download PSP 8, it automatically puts a folder in My Documents called "My PSP 8 files", in PSP 9 it automatically installs a folder in My Documents called "My PSP Files". You will see these folders have folders in them called Brushes, Bump Maps, Deformation Maps, Fonts, Gradients, Mask, etc. and they are all empty at the time of installation.  (All your brushes, masks, gradients, etc can be put in these folders and will be available in PSP without actually installing them into PSP)

I am going to do this tutorial for the PSP 8 program, so if you have PSP 9, you will use the "My PSP Files" folder instead of "My PSP 8 files".

First of all, we need to put a new folder in "My PSP 8 Files" and name it Plug-Ins. (For some reason neither version of PSP comes with that folder). Go to My Documents, My PSP 8 files, and make a new folder, name it Plug-Ins.

When you have a plug in that you want to install (in this case I am installing Factory G, right click on your plug in, and select Save Target As, and save to your Desktop (you can then get rid of it later if you want to or move it to some other location) When it is finished, click Close.

Have your version of PSP closed at this time.

Go to your Desktop, double click on Factory G zip file to open your extractor.

Select All, and click Exract all files

On the Pop up,

1. click next

2. click on browse

3. navigate to: A) My Documents

                          B) My PSP 8 Files

                         C) Plug Ins

                         D) click ok

4. Click Next on your pop up

5. Take the check out of Show Extracted Files, and click Finish.

Open PSP, and open a graphic of some kind to check to see if your plug in is there. If it is NOT there, then follow these instructions.

Go to file at top

Down to Preferences

Over to File Locations

On the pop up, click plug ins on the left side.

Then on the right side, click Add at top, then click browse

Then navigate to: My Documents/ My PSP 8 Files/Plug-ins

Click ok..........

Now your plug in should be in your PSP, if not, close out PSP again, and reopen and check again
