A battle was fought hard today, but just could not be won
It wasnt for lack of fighting, for it was fought by everyone.
But the one who had to fight the most, just couldnt bear the pain
So she left us to go to heaven, to step into the sun, out of the rain.
She left us alot of memories, to hold forever in our hearts
And we know she'll be watching over us, even though we had to part.
Mt grandma was an excellent cook, the way we expect all grandmas to be
Whether it was her pies or biscuits, at her house she loved for us to eat.
She used to sew all day long, making clothes or quilts to give away
And I know that those who received her gifts, will remember her for them always.
Grandma loved to collect dolls, and she had to many to name
It didnt matter how old or new, she loved them all the same.
She went to church to worship God, and to hear Tom and Mark preach
She studied her Bible faithfully, until heaven was in her reach.
So today we have to say goodbye, to one who made a big difference in our lives
We'll always remember her loving heart, and try to forget her past pain and strife.
Today she got to fly away, to be with grandpa in the sky
And we know they both are watching, as we go about our lives.
Today we will start moving forward, and go on like we need to do
But there will always be a place, in our hearts grandma, just for you.         This poem was written for my mom's mom when she passed away in August of 2002........                AEE

Lovely Amber, I understand I wrote some after the death of my mum too and also when my hubby died, I think it's a way of easing your heart and showing your feelings by writing them down, if you understand me, X

Aimee - Thank you! Your poem made me smile and it also brought me to tears. I felt so much of what you must of felt, and still do, when you lost your grandma. My grandma is not gone yet, but she is 93 yrs. old. She has always been my best friend and everything else to me. She must me so much like yours. she lives with God in her life every moment, she is our familys queen. I copied your poem and will keep it. It is very pretty and I know that your grandma was part of your heart. Thanks for making me smile, and in a very good way, thanks for making me cry. That day will come for me soon, and I won't be able to put down my love in words like you did.  Valettajho
