Christmas 1963
How short the time since we bid adieu
To Christmas 1962!
It scarcely seems but yesterday
Since we stored bells and lights away,
Dismantled trees and with a sigh
watched another year slip by.
Regretfully we shed a tear, then turned to greet a bright new year.
With quickened heart and cheerful smile
We sought to hold it for a while,
To check it's hurried, frenzied pace
That so unnerves the human race.
But time and tide await no man,
Once more it's Christmas time again,
And time to shop for gifts and toys
for loved ones, friends and girls and boys.
And time to trim the waiting tree,
For Christmas 1963!
A time to lay aside all care
To pause and kneel in fervent prayer
With grateful hearts to God above
Who, in His great and wondrous love,
Sent down to earth from heaven's throne
His Son, our Savior, to atone
For all the deeds of sinful men
And give them peace of mind again.
A time to pray that HE might send
Peace now on earth, good will to men
And that His sweet Spirit shall dwell
In every heart this glad Noel.
When from our knees we'll rise, ah, then,
Echoes will fall, Amen! Amen!
