I posted a prayer request for our daughter, our grand daughter and her husband and our 2 great grand children in May 2005 and some of you posted that you were praying and I thank you very much. Things have not gone well and we have had the children since April. We have been told by the state case supervisor that only relatives can adopt out- of- state. I know that God is bigger than state rules if the right family is found. I am enclosing a part of our Christmas letter. Does anyone have first hand information about the states power to prevent out- of- state adoptions? We have a couple of Christian families that have expressed an interest in adoption , but both are out- of-state. Also please pray that our grandaughter and her husband will turn their hearts back to God. They are still married but not together.

It seems like this year we have had even less time due to the arrival of two of our great grandchildren, Hailey and Justin, ages 3 and 2. They came to live with us full time, quite unexpectedly, last April. It has been quite an adjustment for them, as well as for the 2 of us. We have been recently informed that the parents may soon have their rights terminated and that if we or anyone in our family would consider adopting them we need to begin adoption classes and do home studies, etc. immediately. Otherwise a family that is already a foster care provider will have the first right to adoption. This is all really scary for us, as we feel that we are too old to adopt. The children have grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins on both the paternal and maternal side here in WA state who really want to be able to see the children regularly. With adoption this could provide obstacles. Also we wish for the grandchildren to be raised with Christian values that are so vitally important to our whole family. If any of you know of a Christian family who would fit these requirements we are open to all options. Also please pray that the parents will do quickly what is required to keep their children, or otherwise that the children will be provided with the most loving, stable and secure home possible. They are beautiful, loving and bright children .
