With Todays Economy many people are finding themselves in financial situations they have never had to face before in their lives.

The Lord has put it in my heart to share with you... things HE has shown me about handling finances.  You may agree with them.. or may not .. that is between you and the Lord Himself. I will be sharing with you what the Lord leads me to share.

The first requirement to help you get your finances in order ...or re-organized is for you to have a personal relationship with Him... to have this relationship you must be born again and receive Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  Otherwise these suggestions and tips or advice I share may not seem the right way to do finances.. but they are God's way of leading... and His ways are NOT like the worlds ways.  You must be able to hear from the Lord HIMSELF.. meaning you have communication with HIM yourself... as You will need to get HIS plan for your situations yourself.  And ~ He does have a plan for you ~ that is the good news ~ ?/FONT>

I will share some insights, thoughts and tips.  But your own personal relationship with the Lord is of upmost importance ... because only He knows everything about YOU and your situation.  And money is important to the Lord.. because it is HE who gives us all strength, talents, and abilitys to make money .... and nothing is wrong with money.. it is the LOVE of money that is the sin ....

The Lord is going to give us insights and idea's on how to come out above and not below... during these hard times the whole world is now going through... Will we suffer ??? I would not call it suffering.. but I would say... we are re-learning how to be good stewards... and if we follow HIM.. and His right way of doing things ... we will be walking in victory in the mist of the problems.... we will come out without the smell of smoke.. Praise His Wonderful Name..

I want to let you know that the Lord is my finanical advisor...  I am not a financial advisor myself.

Boosting Your Scores

Your credit scores change when new information is reported by your creditors. So your scores will improve over time when you manage your credit responsibly.

Here are some general ways to improve your credit scores:

  • Pay your bills on time. Delinquent payments and collections can really hurt your score.
  • Keep balances low on credit cards. High debt levels can hurt your score.
  • Pay off debt rather than moving it between credit cards. The most effective way to improve your score in this area is to pay down your revolving credit.
  • Apply for and open new credit accounts only when you need them.
  • Check your credit report regularly for accuracy and contact the creditor and credit reporting agency to correct any errors.
  • If you have missed payments, get current and stay current. The longer you pay your bills on time, the better your score.

Time Management & Money

What does time management have to do with money you might ask.  Well, actually in todays busy lifestyles many people just do not have alot of time to give to their finances.  This of course is a big concern for many of us.  Even tho I am currently a home maker...(Thanks be to the Lord).... I still have time management problems.

However, there is a way to work in doing your finances ...there are several different ways to work in your finances and book keeping and still get your bills paid on time even if you are holding down a full time job ... (and by the way being a home maker IS a FULL time job ~ in case you thought otherwise lol).

#1.  You can spend several hours on the week-end or on your day off each week.  To pay the current bills due.

#2.  You can spend one hour per day working on your bills.

#3.  You can spend 30 min. per day working on your bills.

No matter what you decide to do as putting time into taking care of your finances.. you need to plan to do it.  The problem is that most people do not ever plan to do it.. they are forced to do it because bills are due or past due.

Never have another past due bill to face..plan to spend time with working on your finances...and bills BEFORE there is a problem.

Even if you see clearly there is no way you are going to have enough money to pay a bill... if you hide from the problem... the problem will blow up in your face.

So, the best thing to do is to look at your bills... write them down on paper... (there is something good about writing things down on paper).

Next, call the company ...in which you know you will not be able to pay for a month or that you are behind in.  That is right.. CALL them !!!  Don't hide from them.  Tell them right out that you will not be able to pay the full amount due... sometimes they will give you a longer period to pay.. or they might work out a payment plan that will work better for you.  They are overjoyed (even tho they might not let you be aware of that fact lol) that you are even going to actually try to pay it off instead of running away.

You can make a difference... you do NOT need credit counselors if you will walk up and take responsibility.

(P.S.  I personally like to take an hour per day to work on my finances or other type of home office things).
I know everyone can not give one hour per day... if 15 min. is all you have to give.. then give it...you will see a change if you just work on your bills or other home office type things every day.. and it will help keep you up on what is happening with your finances so you are not blindly going about your day not knowing what is going on with your finances or what bills are due and what are paid.

But, My Husband/Wife does the bill paying....

That is alright ~ which person does it doesn't matter if you are working together as a team.  Ask if you can help him or her to get it in order for them to pay the bills and do things quicker when they are working on the finances.. I am sure they will not mind you going through the bills and taking the bill part and the envelope and putting them together... so they would not have to do that part.. every little thing helps.. (that is if you want to help them...just a suggestion).

My husband did our finances for about 15 years.  When we first got married until he bought his own company.  Then it became too much for him to do the companys finances and home finances as well.  That is when I offered to help him .. by doing the home finances and freeing him up to tend to the business finances.

What works for one couple might not work for another, so you have to do what "works" for you and your husband if you are married.

I do not agree with seperate checking accounts however.  With the way things are currently in this world alot of couples have chosen to have seperate accounts.. because they say...they both have incomes... however... when Christians get married they become "one".  Meaning that they work together .. and finally working together as one...praise the Lord !!

It takes time to come together.. and work as one... that does not happen over night.  But, having seperate bank accounts .. is not coming together at all.. it is division....some do it because they do not trust their marriage partner.  But, you have to just trust God instead.  Will our marriage partners make mistakes.. YES... and we deal with it.. with LOVE... and LOVING KINDNESS.. and Mercy !!!

I do not think those who are living with someone as a partner .. is blessed ... they are living in known sin and they need to change their ways for God to bless them financially as well as any other way.  I know God is full of mercies... and sometimes it takes a while to get our lives lined up with the word of God... but it is doable... and... then you learn to work together and trust God... and He will bless you in every area.

One Key...however..

. Mat 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Home Office #1

It is the best thing to have a place to do your home finances.

To start out .. even an old suitcase works well.  It is better to have a place to keep all the bills and your bank statement in a place where you can find it if you need to.

If you do not have a desk currently that is ok.. like I said.. use an old suit case or a box.  You can find a suit case even at Good Will for this use if you are lacking one.  the reason I suggest a suit case to start out with is because you can shut it.. and sometimes lock it if you have the key ... and it can be stored under your bed in most cases.. unsually a suit case will slide easily under most beds for a safe place to keep it.

Home Office #2

In your suit case or desk you need to get all the necessary supplies before you can really began to use it to your benefit.

You will need tape, sissors, pens, a calendar, a rolodex, at least one clip board, envelopes 1 box of small ones 1 box of large ones, at least one legal pad, a notebook for your bookkeeping records (I will explain about that later). Another notebook for keeping your bank statements together. You will also need a package of sheet/cover protectors.. to protect the papers to be put into your notebooks; as well as a Columnar Pad with 6 columns 1 through 6 across..on each page. with 1 -40 lines going down; for BookKeeping purposes.  I found mine at Office Max.

(I would suggest a good size notebook.. not the extreemly large ones; but larger than the small ones)

You will need a stapler.  1 yellow marking pen ( for highlighting things).  1 black marking pen..(for crossing out your address on envelopes you throw away).  Stamps for mailing out your bills.. and birthday cards and such.

If you have an office desk.. you might want to get some hanging file holders as well as a box of file holders.

If you do not have a computer, printer, trash can at your desk.. think about getthing them.

Also, any other type of thing that any normal office would use in any business.  Because that is what you are doing.. you are getting serious about taking care of your finances.  To do it correctly you will need supplies to help you when you need to staple something or tape something, for an example. You do not want those things all over the house and taking time to hunt them down.  So go ahead and get those supplies you need and put it into you suit case or desk.. you will be glad you have those things in one location.. when you need them.

You may think of other things you want in your suit case or desk that is not listed here.  Go ahead and get what you need.. if you need a clock on your desk .. get one... if you need a light to see better.. get it.  If you need a desk calendar then get one.

Some of you might would like to buy a shredder... now is the time to do that.  You would do yourself a good thing to protect yourself by shredding mail you want to throw away.  In todays world you need to protect yourslef.  So, a shredder is something to be considered ~ some will not go through staplers.. some will not handle anything sticky .. so make sure you understand what the shredder can and can not handle before you buy it... so it will last longer overall.  I can't put envelopes in mine because of the sticky stuff on envelopes... nor does mine shred things with staples in them.. those staples have to be removed first.  So read to know exactly what type of shredder it is before you buy it.  I do recommend you buy a shredder.  Wal-Mart has them at pretty reasonable prices... many other places do as well.. some office supply stores have them reasonably priced also.

Don't deny yourself of your supplies if you need it .. get it.  This is the planning time for getting your home office up and running smoothly.

It might take awhile to get everything you need to have your desk area looking like a well put together office desk area.. but good planning and working towards getting the needed supplies.. will last you a long time.. many many years to come, and help you to be able to do things easily and smoothly for a long time.  So it is well worth putting some money into getting the things you need so you can function better over all and quickly get your hands on papers you need to get to and do what you need to do without having to hunt everywhere for a piece of tape.

It is better also if you can buy a roll of stamps at a time instead of a book.  That way it will last you close to a whole year before you have to make another trip to the post office for stamps.  I know some of you can't do that, but it would save you alot of running to the post office for stamps over a years time.

Think about the above suggestions.  You may not be able to afford to go out and buy all the things listed at once. Get whatever will make it easier for you if you can... that is the whole idea.. to have what you need when you need it available at the time you need it.

Home Office #3

When I first started taking care of our finances we could not afford a desk ~ I used an expanding file with a tie at the top.  They usually come in sorta a brown color.

It worked well at the time.

Then when I could I bought an old suite case from the Good Will store.  That worked even better.  Was alot larger ..had more room over all.  It worked !!!

Then as I studied the Scriptures in the Book of Proverbs.. and began to learn God's ways of doing things.  Our finances began to get better.

I also spent time in deep prayer seeking the Lord.. just to praise Him for His goodness towards us.  Also asking Him to help me with the finances.  Asking for wisdom, insight, and understanding of what to do in every situation.

It is most important for the Christian to seek the Lord for help, guidance and wisdom.  For without the help of the Lord we will never pull out of any financial hole or trap we get ourselves into.  We must seek the Lord and get into His Wonderful Word.  We must have Him activly helping us, leading us and directing us.  The only way to get that type of help from Him is to spend time in prayer seeking Him.

I asked Him to be my financial advisor.. and you know what happened??  He accepted ~ ?/FONT>

He will accept the job.. and will not charge you anything.. except your whole heart... and love and life..freely given to Him. (remember He is our Heavenly Father, He already loves us with an everlasting love).  It is worth it.. as we live our lives unto Him.. He will bless us.. Also remember, He said in His word.. we have not because we ask not.  Do not be afraid to ask the Lord ....do not be afraid .. He will help you in every area of your life .. even the financial area !!!

After a while I was able to go to Wal-Mart.. or Sams.. I have bought office desk from both places over the years.  You do not need an expensive one.. just one that works..

Seek after the Lord.. He has a plan for your life... He is not against you.. He is for you.. to bless you.. to heal you in every area..of your life and that includes the financial area.

Amen !!!

Home Office #4

As time goes on you will find you need a filing cabinet of some sort.  Most desk has a one drawer cabinet, but shortly you will find that is not enough room.  You can buy a 5 dawer file cabinet for about $100.00 at most Office supply stores.  You can also use those plastic containers made for storing files at Office supply stores.  The plastic containers work really well .. plus it will keep out bugs and dampness.. which is a plus.

You will need a place to store old files.  Every year you need to go through your file area and remove all those things from the previous year.  I suggest you use a plactic container used for storing files for doing this. (The cost is normally somewhere around $10.00 to $25.00 per containter).  You will need to put the year... 2007 or whatever on the outside of the container so if you need to retrieve papers from it you can easily find them.

You want to remember.. your goal is to have a home office that is simular to the way any business would have.  That also means keeping your records for up to 7 years in some cases in case you have to go back and look for past bills or doctor statements or other information that may be needed .. bank statements and so forth.  If the IRS knocks on your door.. (you know what I mean) you want to be able to easily come up with any papers that are needed to help you during that time.  If you do not have those papers it could be a smack to you .. cause most  the time you have to proved yourself right.. without certain papers kept..you can not even help yourself.

Think about it... it is better to have more files ..statements kept than to wish you had done it later...

Most companies keep records.. statemements and such up to 7 - 10 years... before shredding them.

We have a situation that cropped up .. with our 2004 income taxes.  Nothing was done wrongly on our part.. this has to do with the State taxes.. not the Federal taxes.

They have kept sending us questions about those state taxes every year.  As well saying we owe them a certain amount of money each year.. when in fact they have owed us instead.

We have had to go over and over and over these things with them every year.. until finally this year they sent us the check they owed us with interest.  But, if we did not keep those papers in a safe.. dry .. bug free place.. we would not have a leg to stand on.. as we have had to scan and e-mail them those papers now for 4 years in a row... that is why it is important to keep your papers.... every year we thought.. well we are done with them .. then the next year.. they would be hounding us all over again... finally I think we are done with them on this issue.. we will see come next tax year... LOL...but we got all the papers.. including a copy of the check they sent to us... hopefully it is over.. but this is the example I am using to show you the importance of keeping your old papers .. in a good storage area. .where you can find them easily enough.  You certainly do not want to keep all those old papers at your desk drawer for years and years. nor in a file cabinet.. there would not be enough room shortly.

Home Office #5

Just a quick note here... about the Home Office postings.

I am throwing alot at you I know.. giving you alot of suggestions and information.

Some suggestions you may find would be something you want to use, some may not be something you would want to do or even think about doing.

The thing is take the suggestions that would help you.. .to improve or would help you get things together or organized better.

It is a good thing to have information and suggestions given to you so you have the choice in how you can do your finances... at least you can see different ways of keeping track of them.. and take those things that help and incorporate those idea's into your own system of record keeping, and way of handling your finances.

I hope some of the things I have shared already has encouraged you and will be somethings you have thought of at least trying with your own record keeping or finances.

Detailing God’s Financial Plan

Dressed and Equipped for Supernatural Living: Adopted Into the Royal Family

By Dr. Leroy Thompson Sr.

There are many promises in the Word of God that deal with wealth and prosperity. And God doesn’t intend for you, as a believer, to wait until you reach the “sweet by-and-by?before you can enjoy them. He wants you to live in wealth and prosperity while you’re here on this earth.

But if you’re going to walk in the fullness of what God has promised where natural wealth is concerned, there are some things you first need to know concerning your spiritual wealth. You’re going to have to understand what your position is as a member of the Body of Christ and the authority that position carries. And you are going to have to understand the kinship relationship you have with God.

Not only is God your Lord, but He is your Father. And as your Father, the Scripture says, He has blessed you with all spiritual blessings. We find that in Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.?/FONT>

Paul wrote these words to the church he had established at Ephesus. The people there were strong in the Word, but it was the unbelievers who had all the natural wealth. Paul saw that the church needed a better understanding of their position in Christ, and their rights and privileges, so they could obtain natural wealth. When you understand your inheritance as a child of God, you won’t have any problems believing God for the natural.

You’ll see that you’ve had a total change of status. You don’t have to wear your beggar’s clothes anymore. You’ve been prepared for something special. You’ve been dressed and equipped for supernatural living.

Establish an Intimate Relationship

Look at that verse again. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.?Notice it refers to God as Father. That means God is your Father. And how does a father treat his children? Jesus said, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him??(Matthew 7:11).

That’s a father’s heart. He wants nothing more than to give good things to his children. He wants that because of the intimate relationship the two of you share.

Seeing God as your Father brings you into the place of spiritual wealth, where there is an inheritance waiting for you. Once you reach that place, it’s no sweat getting those things you desire in the natural. Healing, long life, peace, houses, cars, land—they’re all yours to have because they have already been given to you in heavenly places.

Philippians 2:5-6 says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.?Well, the Bible says we are “heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ?(Romans 8:17). That means we are equal with Jesus in all that He has inherited from God the Father. If you are in the form of God, you should be thinking like God.

You can speak things out from a godly or spiritual standpoint and see them happen because your words carry power. If you are operating in faith and the knowledge and understanding of your inheritance in Christ Jesus, this earthly system has to obey you.

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises, of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light?(1 Peter 2:9).

As believers, we have kinship with the Father. But the Body of Christ hasn’t much acted like it. We are supposed to be reigning now—on this earth! But that can only happen when we have spiritual knowledge of our position and the authority we possess—and act on it!

God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings, or privileges. Everything has been freely given to us, including wealth, health, peace and joy. Some people just don’t want to walk in the blessings. They would rather use their own limited resources and go their own way rather than depend on the God Who declares Himself their Father.

Don’t be like that, because you can easily find yourself in the position of a beggar—going to God and pleading your case rather than asking, as His child, and receiving.

I get a picture of that whenever I think about that story of the blind man who stopped Jesus on the way to Jericho. He wasn’t a believer, but the situation was the same. “And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging?(Luke 18:35).

That’s how I see Christians who don’t know their rights and privileges. They’re just like beggars. “Oh, God, please heal me.?“Oh, God, please pay my bills.?“Oh, God, my sister is going to hell if she doesn’t straighten up. Please save her.?/FONT>

Don’t Beg for What’s Already Yours

You don’t have to beg God for what He has already provided for you. He’s your Father! You have a covenant with Him that is sealed by the blood of Jesus. Healing is your right under that covenant. You shouldn’t be poor and struggling to pay your bills. Not when prosperity is promised to you in the covenant.

But let me add that living under the covenant is part of that intimate relationship you share with God. If you have faith in your relationship with Him, then you will have faith in the covenant. The Bible says, “the just shall live by faith.?Another way of saying that is: “He who hath entered into the covenant shall live by faith.?/FONT>

I want to repeat something I said earlier: God is not going to let you have natural wealth until you understand your spiritual wealth. You are not someone trying to be blessed, or trying to get healed. You are already blessed. Healing already belongs to you! Prosperity belongs to you! You don’t have to pay for anything. You already have cash for it—it’s called faith.

Your problem is that you don’t know how to take hold of it.

Faith in your covenant with God the Father will make a demand on what rightfully belongs to you. You are already dressed for spiritual wealth and supernatural living, because you are a child of God. Can you see that?

Don’t go to the Father like you’re trying to make Him do something. Just give Him enough passwords—through the Word—so He can legally enter into your life and bring the blessings. That’s why He gave us His Word. It’s a map around Satan’s power to control us.

You need to stop right here and say this: “I am blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, now. I have a right to be blessed in every area of my life. And from this day forward, I will not accept anything less. I have it now! I claim it now! It’s paid for. My name is on it. Now! In Jesus?Name.?/FONT>

Supernatural and Natural Wealth—It’s Yours!

In Ephesians 1:4, we read, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.?That verse says God chooses us. In another scripture, Jesus says: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you?(John 15:16).

Do you see that? That’s talking about your natural wealth. Whatever you ask the Father in the Name of Jesus, He will give it to you. You probably thought that promise was there just for preachers. No, it’s part of the spiritual blessings that come with your covenant with the Father.

Jesus said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you?(John 15:7). Now, listen, just because they’re called “spiritual blessings in heavenly places?does not mean they are in the heavenlies. No, they’re not out there in the sweet by-and-by. That’s where the transformer is located. The blessings are manifested right here in the earth!

Look at that verse in 1 Peter again. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood…?(1 Peter 2:9). Did you get that? He said you are a “royal priesthood.?You are royalty. That’s kingship! That’s why Paul said in Romans 12:2, “Be not conformed to this world.?Don’t take the shape of this world. Have a transformation “by the renewing of your mind?with the Word of God. You have to get this settled in your mind that you are a child of God, and you have rights and privileges.

You cannot go by your feelings—you have to go by your faith and the revelation you have from the Word. Say what God says about your situation. Even if the physical evidence changes for the worse, keep saying what God says. Confessing what God says about a situation will cause it to manifest. I’m not talking about parroting words that have no substance behind them. I’m talking about speaking words that are backed by God’s Word.

If you’ve ever been fishing, you can understand what I’m talking about. You’ve got your line out in the water, and that little stopper, that float, is just sitting there waiting to go under. That’s a sign that you’ve got a fish on the line, you know?

Well, that’s not always the case. Some of those fish are pretty sharp. And just because that little float goes under doesn’t mean the fish has taken the bait. No, that fish is just checking you out. You think he’s hooked, and he’s just checking you out.

That’s the way the devil operates. You’ve got your faith out on the line and all of a sudden the physical evidence changes for the worse and you take your eyes off God and start looking at the circumstances. Wham! The devil’s got you hooked.

Well, don’t take the bait! Don’t fall for that trick! Flip the devil out of the water and tell him, “No, I’m not falling for that. I’m not taking that bait. I’m standing on God’s Word because I know who I am. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am royalty. I am blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places, and those blessing are for me now!?/FONT>

Listen, you have a Father who rules, reigns, regulates and calls all the shots. Don’t let anybody talk you out of your rights and privileges as His son or daughter. If He is your Lord, and He is Lord over everything, then that means you reign with Him.

You are dressed and equipped for supernatural living, because you have been adopted into the royal family. Realize who you are, and take what rightfully belongs to you. God shouldn’t have to come and hit you over the head and say, “I have blessed you.?He has told you over and over in His Word that you are blessed with all spiritual blessings.

Take what is rightfully yours.

Giving in Faith Prayer

“Father, Your Word says that He who ministers seed to the sower both ministers bread for my food and multiplies my seed sown and increases the fruits of my righteousness. Therefore, I am enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causes through us thanksgiving to God. I thank You for it, Lord.

“I stand on Mark 4:23 which says, ‘If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.?So I make the decision right now to receive. I will receive. I will do all the things necessary. I will plant—I am planting now. I put the sickle to the harvest. My confession is on the Word. My confession is by faith.

“In Jesus?Name, I receive now by faith the hundredfold return on this seed that is in my hand. I do this in obedience to the Word.

“And, Satan, in the Name of Jesus, I rebuke you. You are the persecutor. Take your hands off my money! This is not your seed. It is not your land. It is mine and God’s. Stay out of my garden! Stay off my farm, for the harvest is mine!

“Lord Jesus, I plant this seed into ________ (ministry or church) and believe in its return because You said it. I dedicate it to Your service, to Your affairs, in Jesus?Name. It will be as the loaves and fishes when You used the hundredfold principle to feed the people. Amen!?/FONT>

Your 5-minute guide to credit scores

A better score means a better deal from landlords, lenders, insurers and other creditors. Use these dozen-plus tips to boost yours.

By MSN Money staff

Your credit score is likely the most important three-digit number in your life.

Your score affects how much you pay for credit, and it can affect other bills you pay, where you live and where you work.

  • Banks and credit card companies review your score when deciding whether to extend you credit and how much interest to charge. (See "What bad credit really costs you.")
  • A high score can lead to lower car- and home-insurance premiums, a deposit waiver from utility companies and a better service package from the cell-phone company. (See "5 people who check your credit.")
  • Many landlords check credit scores before allowing you to sign a lease. (See "Credit checks: A civil rights issue?")
  • Many employers -- 35% in 2003 -- are doing credit checks on prospective employees, particularly those who would deal with money. Employers need your written permission to make the check and must give you a chance to respond.

With so much at stake, it's wise to find out where you stand and take steps to raise your score if it's below 700, particularly before you apply for a mortgage or other loan. Above 760 and you're in the upper echelon. A score below 620 tells people you're not a good risk and destines you for credit denial or subprime interest rates.

What is a credit score?

The three major credit-reporting agencies -- Equifax, Experian and TransUnion -- use software developed by Fair Isaac Corp. to rate your risk for assuming debt based on your credit history. The result is commonly known as a FICO score.

The score is based on five factors, including payment history, the amounts you owe and the types of credit you've obtained. Personal information like income, occupation, age and marital status are not considered.

The FICO score can range from 300 to 850, although very few reach that pinnacle. Each credit bureau may assign you a different score, based on the information it receives from creditors.

You generally have to pay to get your credit score. You are legally entitled to one free credit report each year from each of the three credit reporting agencies. (See "How to get a free credit report.")

  • To watch for errors and identity theft, stagger your requests and get a report from a different bureau every four months.
  • Go to AnnualCreditreport.com to order a free report. Make sure you access the right Web site. Impostor Web sites abound.

Want to improve your score and keep it high? Think of credit as a privilege to be used sparingly.

  • Don't apply for lots of credit cards. A credit inquiry can deduct five points from your credit score. However, multiple checks made when you're shopping for a mortgage will count as only one.
  • Asking for your personal report won't hurt your score. Neither will requests made by credit card companies that offer preapproved cards, or requests by prospective employers.
  • Avoid applying for credit cards from companies that don't set a spending limit or won't report your limit to the credit bureaus. (See "Weird stuff that hurts your credit.")
  • Don't cancel multiple credit cards. That can suddenly lower your available credit and can hurt your credit score. Keep old accounts open to ensure a long credit history.
  • Limit the percentage of available credit you use to no more than 30%, even if you pay off your balance each month. Your credit report will show the amount you owed, even if you subsequently paid in full, and excessive spending will ding your score.
  • If you don't have a credit history, start one by obtaining a secured credit card and managing it responsibly. (See "9 ways to build a killer credit score.")

It pays to pay on time

The No. 1 way to raise your credit score? Pay all of your obligations on time. Your payment history constitutes 35% of your credit score.

  • That includes library fines and parking tickets. Municipalities are more aggressive about turning over delinquent accounts to collection agencies, which will drag down your score. (See "Now bounced checks can trash your credit.")
  • One late payment reported to a credit bureau can drop your score by 100 points, particularly if you had a high score.
  • Late payments can remain on your credit report for seven years. Bankruptcies appear for 10 years.
  • Consulting a credit counseling service to manage excessive debt will not damage your credit score.

If you find an error in your credit report, ask the creditor to correct it, then notify the credit bureau by sending a certified letter and copies of documents that support your claim.

  • If the error isn't fixed, the bureau must identify the person who investigated your claim, and you can request a second report.
  • If the error is corrected, the bureau must send you a copy of your new report and, at your request, a copy to everyone who obtained your credit report within the previous six months.
  • If it's not corrected, you can include a statement in your credit report.
  • Faced with a faulty credit report when you're about to obtain a mortgage? Mortgage companies can engage a rapid rescoring service to correct errors within days.
  • Paying a service to monitor your credit is not worth the fee, unless you've been the victim of identity theft and have reason to believe you're still at risk. .

VIDEO on the ECONOMIC CRISIS

In today's world.. where the gas prices are down one day and up the next ~ the government bales out Mortgage companys.. now they own them... food prices are ever increasing... we have to know... what to do in these times.

We need a plan.. for our finances.. it is for our loved ones and our family that we should study God's way of doing things... for His ways are not like the Worlds ways.  His ways will bring us through .. and He is our provider in times like these.

He has the plan that will work for us.  It is our task to discover His plan for our lives, and part of our lives that holds together the rest is our money.. so money does count.. and how we manage it counts.. it actually will be the difference from having food on our tables or not having it there.  So it is to our best interest to study on how God's right way of doing this is all about.  Amen !!!

The following video is not to frighten anyone, it is to help open our eyes up.. so we do not slumber and sleep.  We have to work our finances.. they do not work themsleves.  We have to search the Word of God for His answers... The answer to all of life's situations and problems is really in the Bible... so the Bible is our treasure book... not just a book to put on a table so we will look like a Christian .. the Bible is our work book !!!

Please listen to the video below... not sure how long it will be available, so please take a few moments to hear it.  Turn up your sound... You will see for yourself the confused state our country is becoming... those without help .. those who are doing things according to the World's way of doing things... Just because things might not be discussed.. doesn't mean we are in a good situation.

The USA is in an Economic Crisis... don't be fooled by anyone !!!

God is our only help and our only hope for a future for our families and children.  We need to set an example of trusting in the Lord in hard times...otherwise how will our children know God will help them... they will know if we teach them that God is an ever present Help in time of need.  Amen !!!

God is our source !!!
