FRUIT DETERMINES OUR DESTINATION
by Alta Smith
There are those who produce good fruit; there are those who produce bad fruit, and there are those who produce no fruit.
The fruit that we produce is the helmsman of our life, steering us in a way that determines our destiny. (A helmsman is the person who turns the large wheel that steers a ship.)
For example, if we obey God's Word, then the fruit we produce will steer us to good things such as love, joy, peace and trust in God that He is with us.
Or if we produce bad fruit such as robbing a bank, the fruit will steer us into a life of crime and prison, which can rob our lives of love, joy, peace and faith.
But for those who have ceased to labor for the Kingdom of God and produce NO fruit, they are at the mercy of the Sea of Trouble, being tossed about because NO ONE is at the helm.
Even if a large well-built ship has no one to steer it while in the middle of the ocean, it will be tossed about like a toy boat -- never reaching its destination.
In the Living Bible, Luke 6:44-45 says, "A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces. Figs never grow on thorns, or grapes on bramble bushes. A good man produces good deeds from a good heart. And an evil man produces evil deeds from his hidden wickedness. Whatever is in the heart overflows into speech." But it is the lukewarm in Revelation 3:16 that God will spew out of His mouth.
Then Jesus says, in Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
