Naturopathic Doctors Treat Asthma

by Mark Orbay, ND

The naturopathic approach in regards to asthma is to treat the whole person, prevent further complications, and reverse the disease. This can be accomplished by a combination of the following treatments:

?Consuming whole foods with an emphasis on seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables high in anti- oxidants as well as taking nutritional supplements such as vitamin C, quercetin, and bromelain which can all help to regulate the immune system.

?Asthma can unknowingly be exacerbated by the continual ingestion of food sensitivities or intolerances. The most common culprits are cow’s milk and dairy products, eggs, citrus fruit, and chocolate. Get tested to identify your unique food sensitivities.

?Taking anti-inflammatory botanicals, drinking plenty of spring or filtered water, and getting adequate amounts of Omega-3 supplements daily can all help to reduce the inflammation.

?Physical treatments such as acupuncture, acupressure, the Bowen Technique, and breathing exercises can enhance lung function.

?The use of Biotherapeutic Drainage eliminates toxins from the body which impair the normal functioning of various body systems and can ultimately restore health in conjunction with single homeopathic remedies.
