Now I can finally see....
The bottle was not made for me.
I used to get drunk,
and fall down.."kerplunk",
On liquor, beer, wine...Texas Tea.

Now you may think this a fable...                                                                    Perhaps you think I'm unable.
But I am tired...
of ending up wired...
Introducing my head to a table.

Perhaps, I think, Nobody cares....
'bout an alkie who ceases and shares.
Who no longer mumbles...
or fumbles or bumbles....
Nor trips over carpets and chairs. (not to mention the stairs).

I've made up my mind to stay dry...
And if you must know...I'll say why.
I haven't the training...
for boating or planeing...
So I don't fish...and now I don't "fly".

I thank you for listening a minute...
I assure you my heart's really in it.
I'll be put to the test...
but I'll do my best...
Why'd it take me so long to begin it?

It's never to late for a start...
If one's in it with all of their heart.
And I'm telling you....
It's easy to do...
When your whole world is falling apart.
