Kansas always chokes? I guess that's how they became the 3rd all time winningest team behind Noth Carolina and Kentucky right?

lol Rich has zero credibility if he is seriously arguing Kansas is the number one school for college sports!   Because they are a number one basketball seed and have a great basketball history surely places them among the top programs of all time in that sport.  In football though, he cites their one-loss season plus a signature win over Virginia Tech?  And they were Number 7!  Hilarious!  I mean dude had a point if he kept it to basketball programs, but since he dragged football into it, well, it's time for a reality check.

Kansas plays in the Big 12, and the Big 12 sucks.  What conference is it that gets routinely blown out of bowl games?  The Big 12.  Actually only the University of Texas has won a meaningful bowl game in recent history, and that was Vince Young's victory over USC for the national title a few years back.  Other than that, it's been the two powerLords of the Big 12, Oklahoma and Nebraska, taking turns benefiting from a weak ass conference only to show up in the national title game and get DESTROYED by schools like LSU, UF, and Miami.  Time and time again.

What's more is that Kansas is not only a ho-hum also-ran of the Big 12, they're not even the best football program in the state, as K-State is the school that is known as the football school of the state.  Sure Kansas had a decent year last season, but that's one season.  Big deal.  This journalist is trying to talk about who is the best university for college sports, and he thinks Kansas's one decent football season plus their place near the top of basketball royalty (not even number one on that list either, mind you) somehow earns them the number one spot!   And this is hypocritical too;  on one hand he grants reputation (Kansas basketball) as the evidence anyone needs, yet on the other he refuses to acknowledge reputation (K-State football) as valid b/c well his KU argument would get flushed clearly away if Ron dare be held to consistency in reason, rofl LMAO

By all measures, if there's one school that can be crowned as the best school for college sports in recent history it is--and this gives me no pleasure but alas I am an honest, objective guy and a fair arbiter--the University of Florida Gators, which didn't even make this guy's stupid Top20 list.  How can the school that won the first back-to-back bball titles since Duke (1991 & 1992) just in 2006 and 2007 (last year moron) be left off the list?  Especially when that same school's football team won that national title also in 2006?  And I'll throw in UF baseball since, well, their appearance in 2005's national title game that they lost is more of an accomplishment than what this idiot considers greatness for Kansas.  And the same reasoning buys noteriety that in 2006 UF baseball was ranked #1 early on, lol.  Then there is UF Womens Tennis that is second in NCAA history with 4 National Titles (trailing only Stanford).  Finally, since 1983, there are but only two schools who have finished in the Top 10 in the All Sports ranking (meaning the ranking of schools' athletic program overall, in other words, Ron, the best schools for college sports), and they are UF and UCLA.  So, if someone wants to be honest about who the best for college sports is, there are the top two and you can pick a side and argue it.  Including anyone else is far fetched, especially someone like Kansas who's strong points include one decent football season capped by a win over down-yeared Virginia Tech, and Kansas reputation on the hardwood, rofl.

Anyway, all that needed to be said to rip this guy's stupid list up is that he had 20 spots, 20 schools, and UF wasn't on there, the team that has won the past 2 basketball titles, and the 2006 football national title, marking the first time ever that has happened.  But I wanted to demolish his entirely ignorant and biased article, and so I enjoyed presenting reality in its entirity.

I'm sure that Tory is right, after all Rich is only a sports writer, what would he know about sports writing?

nice comeback, Conrad, lol

anyway, nice 2-point survival of Davidson their, KU.  I'm sure that bodes well for your face-off with your former coach as UNC will likely mop the floor with one made out of jayhawk feathers.....and trust me, as  Duke fan, I'll be pulling for KU, despite the fact that I hate Bill Self marginally more than I hate Roy Williams.  Anyway, I'm pulling for you KU, but I have little to no faith in you.  If it weren't for Del Curry's kid dribble straight into double coverage, left into double coverage, right into double coverage, trying to get off a drive or a shot during the last 16 seconds of the game, only finally passing it with a little over one second left to one of a couple open teammates, and one who was way, way out beyond even where an NBA 3 pointer is located to heave a hail mary, Davidson very well could've won that game, and probably would've if you take into account that in the closing minutes Curry, whose shot had gone cold in the second half, continued to disengage in team play, and shot as if he had the hot hand, totally stomping out the firehand that whoever #24 on Davidson is had.  That guy drained 3 3's and an awesome running stop n pop 2 (11 points) in mere minutes in the second half and it was like Curry tried to--instead of feeding the hot hand at the moment and riding the momentum--steal the wind from his sails so he could 'put the team on his shoulders' and 'carry them to victory' as the cliches go.  So anyway, all I heard about Davidson all tournament was, How in the world did all the big basketball powers miss Curry?  And of course he's Del Curry's kid, and did you see how hot his mom is?--she looks like that chick from Mission Impossible 2, Thadine Newton I think her name is.  Now obviously he's good and he's young, but he cost Davidson the game against Kansas with his selfish play in the second half, and Davidson's coach deserves blame for allowing it to happen, when it hindered the team play they had executed so well till that point.

It's not like Curry is Jordan.  It's not like he's got the Jordanesque flashes of Dwayne Wade or Kobe Bryant, or the freaky ability of LeBron.  Hell, Curry is not even a Rip Hamilton.  And I'm watching him burn the final 16 seconds with the ball, down by 2, being doubled up by KU defenders and shadowed, and he's got his head down, looking for a seam to drive and not even considering a pass until it's clear if he throws up that shot it would've been not blocked but spiked like it were a hapless and fragile volleyball peevishly floating up just waiting to get killed by the guy on the other side of that net, and then passing it to some guy near halfcourt with nary a second to spare!

I don't think I've seen worse basketball all tournament, and Kansas advances to the F4--only they are the one 1-seed limping in as a 2-point Survivor of Davidson whereas UNC rolled by 10 and UCLA and Memphis submitted 20-point beatdowns of their opponents.  Yet, make no mistake KU fans, I'm with you against UNC, I just don't think you'll have your revenge against Williams now.

I agree it wasn't a pretty game yesterday. But they did win, so whatever. Hopefully they don't have another game like that.

I hope you're wrong about the UNC game... I guess only time will tell.
