He was awesome.  He hasn't aged a freaking day since I had a crush on him at 14.  And, how much did you love that he snubbed Ryan Asscrest???

That's the first time I ever saw him perform (or listened to him).  I really liked him!

LOVE HIM! That was the high point of the whole show. He's so charismatic and talented. Once again, made the whole AI group look like a bunch of amateurs. I also have a lot of respect for someone who was/is talented enough to make a career and break into the business the old fashioned way. Through hard work and talent they were able to separate from the rest of the pack and actually have a long standing career.

He is amazing live!  I've seen him a few times. If there is a more gifted person, musically, in this generation - I don't know who it is. He writes and arranges all of his music, taught himself to play instruments - guitar, piano, everything. Been doing his thing since what - the late 70s? Prince is the man.

I've seen him in concert, too - WOW! And I agree with everything you said, Coco, plus I admire him for molding and jump-starting the careers of so many proteges.

Prince was never a big favorite for me, but I do admire him - he's talented and true to who he is. Can't ask for more than that.

But I'm having issues with seeing him perform on a cheese show like AI. I guess he's just hawking his new album. I only saw a moment of his performance; I assume he was as great as he always is.

Actually, I'm having issues with seeing rockers do cheese. I was happy to see Live, but disappointed as hell that they'd do that (a show like that, I mean).

But then, rock was always about rebellion before it was co-opted by the corporate monsters, lol. That changed somewhere along the way when they all sold out (I'm thinking Zeppelin allowing one of their songs to be used to hawk freakin' Cadillacs was what convinced me it was all over, lol). But I remember the day when real rockers refused to do television at all, lol. They're less heroic to me when they put money above all else.

Early to mid 80s, that's what I'm thinking.

They said that his album sales have increased due to his Idol appearance.
