I see so much vilification and personal attacks on the woman, I'm just wondering what the cause is for them. Not that I ever had McPhever, but not liking someone's singing doesn't seem like cause for rabid hatred.
I've read postings where females use some of the worst language a woman can use about another woman when referring to her and I just don't understand it at all. The only theory I can come up with is that her "Stepford/Hollywood" style of good looks feel threatening to some people, but that still doesn't explain this phenomenon.
Guess "Fair and Balanced" doesn't apply to AI contestants, because there's nothing fair or balanced about the filth which has been spewed out about her.

I tried asking a similar question before and received a reply that "we don't like her". Is that enough to unleash so much hatred? Or do people get a kick out of trying to intimidate differing opinions by shouting louder and nastier than the other person? Oh yeah, I forgot, that's just being fair and balanced, just like Fox News.

I like Kat, too.  I definitely thought she deserved to be in the top five.  She's also a freaking hot-tay.  But, I think the anger directed towards her is all about her lasting longer than Chris and Elliot.  To me, the boys (Taylor, Chris and Elliot) had the amazing talent this year.  When you're as emotionally invested in the show as most of us are, you get royally pissed when you see someone who is 'less than' make it farther than someone you consider to have a unique talent.  Last year I was ready to commit murder over how far Anthony Federov (sp?) made it.  He didn't deserve to be in the top 12, much less go as far as he did.  I probably didn't get as angry as I would have towards Kat this year if I had a clear favorite in Chris or Elliot.  But, this is the first year that I really didn't have one favorite, I just rooted for those three guys.  Had Kat won, I would have been pretty damn ticked.

I think the "Fair and Balanced" applies to members, not outsiders.  Otherwise, the place would be all roses and kittens without the Tom Cruise bashing.  lol  And, I for one would be very upset if I couldn't rip on Heir Bush.

Right May. We rip on celebrities all the time. It's all good fun, IMO. If I couldn't spew venim about Tom Cruise, well... then I just wouldn't know what to do, lol. And Elliot was my favorite and deserved to be in the final 2, instead of that no talent plastic doll.

I don't feel threatened by her, and I don't hate her. I just don't like her and wouldn't be disappointed if I never saw her perform again.

Her smouldering eye-fucks of the camera are just as cheesy to me now as Constantine's. It's all a smarmy show for the camera, with no connection to the song, whatsoever. She sings the blues with a pageant smile, for gawd's sake!

Bleh.

I just hope she's off the talk show circuit before she ruins "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for me forever.

No, it doesn't apply to AI contestants and, if you don't like it, you can always click that little UNJOIN button.

I don't hate Kat, but it definitly should have been an all guys top 3. I don't care what anyone says, she should have been gone after Elvis week. And I don't want to hear that bull crap about it being a guys theme. They've been doing male artists all throughout the year. She also forgot her words. And this comes down to personal preference but I don't the the tone of her voice. I've said it before, I think she's a good technical singer, but her high notes just sound dfhgosj to me.

Her "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" performance was not one of the best AI of all time. I don't understand it. The producers obviously wanted it to be the "Katharine McPhee gave the performance of her life and the best in AI history ever." It wasn't. They tried too hard.

I do think some of the things she has said have come off wrongly, but whose to judge, especially since we've never met her in person for ourselves. I've never really trusted the media to show us the true personalities of famous people.

Yup, I have to say that I feel we can blast and make fun of any celebrity we want.  And actually, the comments against McPee actually seemed pretty mellow compared to constestants on previous years, lol.

She came across as arrogant to me on the show and in interviews and I don't like people like that. That's all.

Oh, Tree loves the McBitch bashing. It gives her an opportunity to do what she lives for: to shame and judge others.

Usually she just writes shaming and judging posts. But to start a whole shaming and judging thread? The woman must have really needed a fix.:lbf

I agree with Lita

I do think Katharine is beautiful & can sing great, but she needs to take her ego down a few notches. That is just my opinion.

I don't remember seeing anything seriously vile about her, nothing more than is ever said about any celebrity - or especially wanna-bes like McSkank.

I'm not sure I understand how "fair and balanced" was brought into play. Even if Katharine were a member here, people could still say whatever the fuck they wanted to about her lousy performances.

The thing is, she's just a skanky little valley girl and I think the entire valley should just be nuked.
