First, the bad news: Congress is dangerously close to letting big oil companies industrialize crucial habitat for our last remaining polar bears. In fact, there could be a vote as soon as next month.

Big Oil and their allies in Congress continue their push for harmful drilling in the most important onshore denning habitat for America’s vanishing polar bears the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Arctic drilling would be bad news for these great white hunters. Drilling operations are so disruptive that they can cause mothers to abandon their dens -- leaving their cubs to die.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Polar bears are drowning and facing starvation as more and more of their habitat is lost to serious climate change. In fact, scientists predict that climate change could drive polar bears to extinction within the next 100 years.
