By Sarah Churchwell.
This is by far the best work I've read on Marilyn Monroe and her impact, sexually and psychologically, on Hollywood and our culture at large.
AMAZING read. She never talks down to her readers, keeping to a high intellectual standard and providing fascinating insights, not just on who Marilyn Monroe was, but how the world sees her and what that says about us.
I'm in a Marilyn Monroe phase, and am reading all of the major biographies. I started with this one, next is Barbara Leaming, then Norman Mailer's take and finally Donald Spoto.
