lol, don't get me wrong, this is a great move and one that, well, if common sense is something that exists in our government, at least at the national security level--and God help us it does--then this is a link that does already and has long existed. Afterall, Reagan launched star wars (SDI) and W. has implemented the fruits of those labors known now as missile defense that we extend to nato and other allies. So there is obviously a strategic linkage, so what is new about Obama stating there ought to be? Especially when we have routine shuttle missions that scoot up there and we don't know what they're doing beyond spacewalks and experiements. Anyway, the point is not to laugh at this notion of Obama's since it seems to be an epiphany of his that most should have assumed was a link that already has existed for most of ever. The point is that this is, once again, Obama moving to the right. He ran against SDI/Starwars/MissileDefence only to get his national security briefing as P-E then say he'll have to decide on that later. Moreover, every liberal always claims they shudder to think about the weaponization of space. Well, here's your candidate, the one, really the only one in the Democrat primary field who said he pledged to unilaterally self-disarm our own nuclear weaponry (despite Russia not adhering and all the nuclear nations such as N Korea and those racing towards it like Iran) and vowed not to weaponize space (even though China and Russia each are actively doing so), and here he is reversing (flip-flopping as people come to call it today) and going one step further by overtly establishing a formal link between our military and NASA. hahaha, I love it. Almost every other day there's a glimpse into the Obama policy and they've nearly been exclusively moves to the centers-right. Oh the libs of the loft are going to be glad I'm not gonna be around to chronicle all this in the coming years. I wonder what's more probable: that they are just glad I'm not so they don't have to acknowledge it; or, that because I'm not they'll never even know what he's doing? lmao |

Interesting - I hadn't heard about that (avoiding news during my vacation, lol). I agree that he's done a lot of movement towards the right, and thank God for that. Then again, someone I know that gives a lot of attention to this stuff mentioned to me the other day that he's putting the foreign policy junk into the hands of those who know about it and can deal with it appropriately (center and right leaners, lol) so he can focus on making domestic policies practically socialistic. Still possible, but whatever, I digress.... I never thought the Pentagon and NASA weren't linked, so I don't understand the comment, but whatever - it's a good 'decision', lol. As much as I'd like to see us be able to 'disarm', as long as all the "theys" out there have 'em, we need 'em too. |
