Real garlic... not garlic salt or seasoning.  I love garlic.

But how come every time I have it, I get serious cramps ( the kind that bring a tear to your eye ) and diarrhea?!?!?!

hmmm... my first thought would be candidas overgrowth...

Read:

The Yeast Syndrome : How to Help Your Doctor Identify & Treat the Real Cause of Your Yeast-Related Illness by John P. Trowbridge and Morton Walker (Mass Market Paperback - Oct 1, 1986)

It talks about people with candidas overgrowth having reactions to garlic because garlic is the natural treatment for getting rid of the yeast.  (The overgrowth is in the intestines, and in bad cases, throughout the body.)  I have bad overgrowth because of taking so many antibiotics and bingeing on sugar, which fed the yeast.  Soon, I'll be doing the 'anti-yeast' diet and treatment, which includes ingesting garlic every day.  (The reason I haven't yet is that it makes you give up all fruits and other sugars for at least a month for a bad case, and that's what I figure it'll take... and I don't want to give up my sugar yet. lol   I have given up caffeine, except for what is in chocolate, which is a start...so I'll get there...)

If you start taking 1 Kyodophilus capsule that has the 3 types of bacteria in it every day, it'll  help kill off the yeast, too... He mentions acidophilus in the book, but there are more good bacteria, and that particular Kyodophilus has them and doesn't have to be put in the fridge. (something b. longum and/or bifidium, plus acidophilus)

You did just do a cleansing, right? (Unless my memory is wrong.)   Has it been worse since then, or better?

Wow, great info Jag!

Yea, I did do a cleansing back in March I think it was.  Thinking about it, it seems just a tad not as bad as usual.

I had no idea about sugar feeding the yeast.  I do have a sweet tooth, but have really cut back alot on sweet/fatty things.  I think what I might do, is make a daily journal of what I eat, and at what time of day, and right down any problems or discomfort I have.

Excellent information, though.  Very much appreciated.

Oh you're welcome...

What's weird is that the overgrown yeast can make the body actually crave sugar...  I'm a living testament to that. lol

Alcohol, too, since that is turned to sugar as it's digested...  Plus, when I was drinking a ton of sweet tea and then changed to fruit juice-- it was all the same.

A food journal would be good to see if there are cycles, or if you crave more after having sugar, and that kind of thing...

The book says that when the yeast is dying, it can make for horrible sugar/white carbs cravings, (white bread just turns to sugar) and it'll give out toxins to try to hurt the host that is killing it...  So that's why you had the stomach issues -- yeast dying causes diarrhea...  and the cramps were from it trying not to die, and to hurt you.

All of this is my opinion, of course, based on the book and some other research...  Oh... I get my Kyo from GNC or a local health store, Doug Brendle's...

Ok, how do you find all this out though, Jag? I mean, what sort of symptoms did you have, what did the doctor ask about and what did she/he test you for, and how did that conclusion come of it?

Just curious. I have all sorts of odd "issues", but doctors never seem to think anything's ever very important or anything. The only thing they ever say is to quit smoking.

I read that book, Smig.      Also have done searches for 'candidas overgrowth and treatment' on the web, too, but after reading the book...

Haven't found a doctor yet that believes in candidas overgrowth... (the holistic-type one I tried to go to may have listened, but she isn't my PCP because of my stupid Medicaid caseworker, so I can't see her.)   Finally got someone to prescribe some Nystatin oral rinse for if I get thrush again, but no one has taken me seriously about Diflucan to start and then Nystatin powder... But good news for me, the garlic treatment is more effective than the Nystatin, without the side effects and possible liver issues, and I can buy Kyolic liquid de-scented garlic locally or online.

I haven't done the hard core yeast killing yet because it'll probably make me feel like crap, so after I get the biggest health concerns taken care of, it'll be time to do it...  (almost done... just taking a little time...)
