When the TB Bucs picked up Brian Griese over the offseason, I informed everyone I knew in my sports circle that he would sooner rather than later become the Bucs starting QB. And, well it was sooner than sooner than later than I thought given that he's now starting Week 2 b/c of Jeff Garcia's "not himself" right now. He has a "spranged angkle" and a "jammed pinkie" on his throwing hand. The ball isn't being zipped in there with the "velocity" that is Jeff. This is all according to Coach Gruden, ever dissatisfied with whomever he has behind Center.
Anyway, I'm glad to see this happening since I've always considered Brian Griese to be underrated. He was off to a 5-1 start here in Tampa the first time he was on our team before injury knocked out for the season then the shrewd front office traded him to Chicago for salary cap reasons. The Bears stupidly stuck with The Rex Grossman Experiment for far too long, with Brian on the bench for a couple seasons until the Bucs got him back this year. Before his first trip to Tampa, he had a bad-fit-in-his-dad's-Miami-Dolphins-shoes for a season, and of course before that he did a solid, solid job in my team away from my team, Denver Broncos, but like filling in for Dan Marino and Bob Griese in Miami, filling in for John Elway's a tall order. So with Chicago not realizing they have an asset, TB is lucky to have gotten him back and I think smart to make the change to him now b/c even if Jeff Garcia isn't honestly banged up know, he certainly will be as he's an injury prone, aggressive, scramble prone 38 year old QB. Griese had a lights out preseason, and I think the Bucs are going to lay some serious points on the Falcs this weekend.
