I dvr-ed this movie months ago during TCM's Oscar Week, and finally sat down to watch it last night.   I'd always heard so much about Bette Davis, I wanted to see what the fuss was about.

I wasn't disappointed, she was amazing in this movie.   It takes place in the pre-Civil War south, and it's very similar to Gone With The Wind, but instead of battling the north, these characters battle an outbreak of yellow jack fever.    But just as you start to get caught up, and you really want to know what happens next, bam, the movie is over!    Damn, I hate when that happens.    Bette Davis won her second Oscar for this movie, and they say after she turned down the part for Scarlett O'hara, the studio offered her this.   Two years later, Vivan Leigh beat Davis for best actress for that very role.    So much drama in Hollywood back in the day.  lol
