Hic, it depends on the specific test ordered.
There's a blood glucose, which is just drawing blood and testing it. It can be done randomly (like just whenever you go into the doctor) or fasting (not eating after midnight.)
Then there's a glucose tolerance test. That is where you drink a very sweet drink, then have blood drawn every hour for two, three or four hours. They usually do that if you've had high sugar.
I'm guessing they're doing this because your urine showed some sugar, and they want to be sure you don't have gestational diabetes. That's a fairly common thing in pregnancy, and usually easily managed and gone after the baby comes. It is important to know if you have it and to manage it if you do, both for your health and baby's.
Good luck with your test and the result.

It's routine Hic. You will drink the stuff - it isn't alot at all and to me it tasted like Tang assuming you get the same flavor I did lol - and you wait an hour and have your blood drawn and go home. If it comes back positive then you have to test again. I believe it is like 1/3 of those that test positive actually end up have gestational diabetes. If you do get a positive result then you do the second test which takes longer. I think it's like three hours. Chances are you won't get that far though. :)

Hope it went well!
Mine tasted like Orange Crush. It was even carbonated lol. Then I had to wait an hour to get my blood drawn. It's a routine pregnancy test now.

yeah i had to drink the stuff. it kind of tasted like an orange hug. i could get it down, but i wouldn't buy it to dring regularly.
now i just have to see how it comes back. lol my dr. already yelled at me for gaining too much weight this past month.

When do you take the second test? My sister failed the first one then passed the second one. My other friend failed the second one too. She had to adjust her diet which can suck when you are pregnant especially if you crave sweets like I did. But the good news is she didn't gain a ton of weight and was back in her pre-preggo size in no time. :)

well that was a pain in the butt.
i got there. they made me pee and they took blood.
then i had to wait a half hour.
then they gave me the drink. after that they told me to drink as much water as i wanted.
another half hour and they made me pee and give blood
same thing half hour then again an hour later.
after that i went over to my dr. appointment where they made me pee (they didn't get much)
and then back over to the lab for the last pee and blood draw.
i don't know what was up, but they didn't even use that thing that you can leave in your arm so they don't have to poke you everytime.
they just poked me everytime.
now we wait to see what happens.
