6 medium potatoes 1/4 c butter 1 medium onion, chopped 1 tbsp flour 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 2 c milk 2 c shredded cheddar cheese 1/4 c bread crumbs Pre heat oven to 375 Slice unpealed potatoes. Melt butter in large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until tender. Stir in salt, pepper, and flour. Cook until bubbly. Stir in milk and 1 1/2 c shredded cheese. Cook for 1 minute. Spread potatoes in ungreased casserole dish. Pour cheese sauce over potatoes. Bake uncovered for 1 hour. Mix remaining cheese and bread crumbs, sprinkle over potatoes and bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until topping is brown and bubbly. |

Mmmmmm.....I love au gratin potatoes.... But you could probably just pour the cheese sauce directly into my mouth and I'd be content, lol. |

You know what else would be good in this? Some chopped up bacon. I love potato cheese and bacon. |

Yup! A lot of times, when I find a recipe, I almost always adjust it to my tastes. |

I tried this recioe, but I doubled it, and it turned out awful :( I don't know what I did wrong. I skipped the onion bc I don't like em. And I doubled everything else. I should just stick to the box kind. |

I'm sorry Flo! Ya know, I've tried some of the boxed ones, and they're really not all that bad. I don't like the Velveeta brand ones, but the Betty Crocker was OK. I don't know why this didn't turn out well for you. |
