...well...I thought tonight was quite funny. I new the show would be good when they started it out with Leandra singing the National Anthem at the shows opening. Thought Simon's facial expression said it best. I'm thinking it was a close running to Rosanne's horrible rendition of the anthem years back.
Was glad to see they raised the age limit this season to 28. Enjoyed McGrath as guest judge, did a great job.
Sean McNeill surprised me with his version of "Isn't She Lovely", the judges were right, he sure smiles a lot. I felt so sorry for Jessie Grazella, the one who couldn't remember the words to "You Raised Me Up", but couldn't help from laughing at the same time. Even the judges, including Simon held back to save his feelings. Anwar Robinson, who sang Stevie Wonder's "You are the Sunshine of my Life" did very well. I really enjoyed listening to him. Derik Braxton/AKA/Toni Braxton's cousin, well, let's just say he wasn't blessed with the same vocal cords as Toni was. How can they continue to sing while the judges are laughing, that's my question. I mean, wouldn't you think it would be a big red stop sign saying, okay now, you can stop humiliating yourself. Sarah Mather, singing "Rescue Me", parents are British, did a great job I thought. Marlea Stroman, singing "All I want"..great job..another single mother. Regina, the one who hocked her wedding rings, what was that all about? I mean, come on, wedding rings over karaoke/cd's..maybe that was a pity plea to further her goings. I was on the fence with her singing, agreed with Mcgrath, we got emotionally involved but would have voted no just as Simon said, she's not going to make it. The rocker, Constantine, liked the name first off...he seems to be tonight's underdog due to his music nature, agree that he will have groupies following him, he's going to have a big audience of girls. What about the Italian Stallion, John Zisa, his father is the mayor of somewhere...he wasn't too bad...but, think we'd get more out of looking at him than listening to him, we'll see. Travis Tucker..oh lord..his dancing and sound effects..then the "heart thumping" in his tshirt..that won me over...lol..that was pretty good and he didn't sing "Isn't she Lovely" too bad either. Hope he'll add in a bit of his dancing during the season should he make it. Was rooting on the boxer Franchon, she'll be back next year, or at least she should be...if not..watch out Ultimate Fighter....here comes Franchon! Tonight's "oh my whops, what the heck" award goes to Jason Smith/AKA/5.9%..what the heck was that about..all those voices..sure kept you entertained and I bet not one viewer switched the channel during his singing of "Papa was a Rolling Stone", could he be the next William Hung? Second "oh my whops, what the heck" award goes to the infamous Mary singing "I feel the Earth Move"...wow..what can you say but PSYCHO Aboard. She was something else, and then she blessed us with a follow up in the lobby....sure hope she can cut hair better than cutting the tunes. Maybe she'll give us all a discount cut should we be able to actually listen to her sing a tune during our hair cut.
Well, that's the wrap with my two cents....by the way, can't wait until tomorrow night when they are in St. Louis, Missouri. That is only an hour from my home town in Illinois. Wonder if I'll see any familiar faces there....stay tuned....more to come...
