Kerry is beiing criticised by some in the media and some here for his decision to speak out against a war that he fought in.
Politics aside for a moment ( if we can ) this is my question:
Why is it that if someone speaks out against a military action they are villified as an insurgent and branded un-American?
First and foremost in this country we have the absolute right to voice a dissenting opinion on the route our government takes.
Kerry chose upon his return to speak out against a war that he no longer beleived in. What is wrong with having a dissenting opinion?
We are going through a similar situation now. There is a growing segment of our population who question our occupation of Iraq and our reasons for invasion. Again this is not an argument over if we should be there or not, but a question about what is un-American or anti-military about openly asking questions?
When did the exercise of ones first ammendment rights turn them into public enemy #1?
