So since the show is over here is my little write-up for you all:

Okay because a few boards are already harassing me to get my review up I thought that I better type it now and forget about getting some actual sleep. This time I didn’t go to the taping by myself, so since this will end up in a few places, it was very nice to meet people from Fans of Reality TV (FORT) and Survivor Sucks. I will try and keep this without inside jokes, so if my humor is lacking blame it on that.

Pre-show --- Not really much to say. Managed to not do anything embarrassing this time and have resigned myself to the fact that I am going to be on a first name basis with anyone that works for OCA and needs a live audience. One has to wonder what I will do when the reality TV craze dies down.

I did get to vote this week. Jay/Jake, my favorite OCA worker as he actually is very nice to me and talks to me like I am normal even though I am not, came by and asked us if what we wanted to do. I told him vote?yadda yadda yadda. So we went and signed the release forms and then were lead into our seats. It was nice to get to see what happens with the voting and stuff, but next week I am so on the dance floor for the finale. I just can’t stay in my seat again.

Chunky D --- once again I have to give him props as this is like the 9 millionth time I have seen his “audience enhancer?spiel and he is funny but he needs some new material.

Dance off again and there was tie this time, although I think the guy won.

Jay/ Jake, the OCA dude, did a dance with Chunky D that solidified my respect for him.

The Show ?First Half

First up was Greg Kihn with The Breakup Song ---- for some reason this song was stuck in my head for the hour or so of waiting before the show began. So I was more than ready to sing along to every single word. They were excellent and I will just leave it there.

Club Noveau was next, I think, with Lean On Me. They were vocally talented as well and got the crowd totally involved in the song.

Glass Tiger got bonus points with me for the Bryan Adams picture in the clip and I was VERY excited to hear them sing. Sang along with every single word and they were very good too, although I missed Bryan Adams doing his part.

Billy Vera earlier this week when I was attempting to explain where I knew this song from I was telling them about the prom episode with Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties and how he danced with his TV girlfriend who eventually became his real life wife to this song. I declared that I remembered this from 3rd grade and low and behold I was correct with my math. This was easily my sentimental favorite of the night and I loved hearing the song live. He earned my vote during this song.

Thelma Houston to be honest I had no clue who she was and she was the only person that I didn’t know in the line up this week. Since she sings disco, I now know why. No doubt that she was the best for the first half and easily was the audience favorite. We could have stopped the show right there as it was officially over.

The Show ?Second Half

Greg Kihn (Green Day ?Boulevard of Broken Dreams)

They were great on the song, but to be honest there was no point to the second half of the show tonight. Regardless, a great Green Day cover.

Club Noveau (Thank You ?Dido)

This song is so overdone, but I did like what they did with it and how they pulled the audience in.

Glass Tiger
(Everything You Want - Vertical Horizon)

I had never heard this song before tonight, so I have nothing to compare it to. I really enjoyed it and will have to have a listen to original and see how it compares.

Billy Vera (Ryan Cabrera song)

I love this song and I loved Billy singing it. He has one amazing set of pipes and that he could hit some of the notes he hit was amazing. He didn’t hit them all though, but I was mightily impressed. Obviously, I voted for him.

Thelma Houston (Alicia Keys ?Fallin?

I must say that I HATE this song. If I ever have to hear it again it will be too soon. But it was easily the best cover of the night. She is just amazing. Of course she won and anything else would have been a travesty, but I didn’t vote for her.

Other Random things:

·After her encore we had to re-shoot her entrance coming down the stairs as some cameraman got in the way.
·Vernon flubbed a few lines and we had to re-shoot them, but it was the teleprompter that was behind for most of the mistakes.
·Vernon sang a Beatles song. Did a wicked Mick Jagger impersonation and sang Bobby Brown’s My Perogative and is just such a fun host.

"Vernon flubbed a few lines and we had to re-shoot them".

---------------

Joellie is such an old pro at attending these shows that she is starting to sound like one of the producers.

Greg Kihn and Club Nouveau were horrible.  Glass Tiger was very good.  Billy Vera was pretty good on his first song, but mediocre on his second, which is called True BTW.  Thelma was brilliant on both songs, and by far the best performer of the 4 weeks of the series so far.  Finally the audience agreed with me and picked the winner.  I picked Tiffany and Howard Jones before.  I forget who I picked the second week, but I thought the winner, Vanilla Ice, was the worst that night.

I caught most of the show on NBC, and then re-watched it on Bravo. Some thoughts:

Greg Kihn -- loved "The Breakup Song," hated "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," even though I really like Green Day's version. My 7-year-old was watching with me and said, "He plays guitar well, but why is he singing like that?" Enough said.

Club Nouveau -- I thought they did well on both songs, but on the re-watch, I noticed that some of their vocals disappeared. Is the sound in the studio really that bad? I would place them near the top of this week's list.

Glass Tiger -- Really, really enjoyed "Don't Forget Me," but I was mystified at their song choice for the second half. If they had done a song that people knew, they might have had a chance at winning. As it was, they probably weren't even close.

Billy Vera -- Great re-do of "At This Moment," but I didn't really enjoy his version of Ryan Cabrera's "True." Billy's age is really showing.

Thelma Houston -- My daughter asked what was on her head. I said it looked like a blonde octopus had exploded. Then she started to sing, and she blew everyone away. She seems a bit more like a Gospel singer now, but the pipes are still working ... really well!

IMHO, the audience got it right. (And I HATED disco -- still do for the most part...)

The sound in the studio is great.....but it doesn't translate well onto TV. Whoever has the sound editing job should be canned.

This week was way better than last week, and Glass Tiger were the only ones who really sucked (they seemed like bad karaoke, even on their own song). I still have no idea who the eff Greg Kihn is...

Billy Vera is a very talented guy. He's a great singer. He's just not a star.

Thelma beat them all hands down. In addition to the fact that she's an awesome singer with a fantastic voice, she's just fun to watch. I thought she looked great and had so much fun that it was infectious. I also think she's really sexy. Sure, she's older and not thin, but you can tell that she really likes herself and is happy with herself, and THAT is truly sexy. I also thought she sang "FALLING" a million times better than Alicia Keys ever did.
