This happened years ago but I still think it's funny. There was a couple in my church who were foster parents. They brought the kids to church. I always admired that couple because it must have been so hard to love those kids and then have to let them go.
But anyway back to the story. I was sitting in the choir. It was time for the offering. This couple had a new set of foster kids and they were a handful already. They were loud and wiggling. Well the deacons started passing the offering plates around. The deacon gives the plate to the first person in the row and that person passes it down.
They get to the row that the foster kids are sitting on. The plate is being passed and it gets to the youngest child. He is sitting on his foster mother's lap. He sees all the money and makes a grab for it. Both fists are full of bills. His foster mother is trying to make him let go of the money, shaking his little hands, trying to shake it free.
We sing a song while the offering plate is being passed around. Well let me tell you everyone in the choir quit singing and started laughing when they saw him make a grab for the money. Everyone except the choir director who had his back to the church. The rest of the church began looking around and started laughing too when they saw what was going on. Only the choir director didn't laugh. He never turned around, he kept singing and glared at the rest of us for laughing.
It was funny.
