Agreeable

I heard it from upstairs
and my heart leaped at the sound of it
desperately I made a mad dash down the stairs
Hoping I made it in time
I dodged in front of it
Just catching the last possible moment
and Opened and hoped
My heart soaring, craving, wishing, hoping
And found it crushed as a betrayer from long ago
Spoke sweet false masks
Asking for something, again
I smiled
Agreed
And put it away
Finding my way back up stairs
To finish watching Howard Hughes die.
