Kass, I just joined here so didn't know about your finger. You are in my prayers though. I cut my index finger, but not half way down the finger! to the bome, but not through it. I has the stitches and all that jazz, and yes that skin fell off.
Ok here is what has happened. The skin did grow back onafter awhile, and yes it was sore to the touch! Now it feels like I have something under it (like when you are walking and have something in your shoe, but it is under the skin of my finger). They say this will go away in time. I know yours will go away too. It will go fairly fast, although you won't think so at the time. As long as you have the bone mending the rest will follow! It will be sore to the touch for awhile though. I will be thinking of you and praying that it get's better very soon.
