As you are driving down the two lane road,  some jerk in a fast car comes up behind you so fast that you never even see them until they are riding your rear bumper.
You have some traffic coming toward you in the oncoming lane,  your kids are telling you that this guy is giving you the bird and waving his arms in a "Get the hell off MY Road" kinda way.

There is no shoulder to speak of,  and very soon the striping is going to change to solid yellow lines at a place where you know that there have been multiple traffic fatalities.

What do you do??     Stay at the posted speed limit?
Slow down even further hoping he will pass without incident?
Speed up and hope to get to where he can pass you safely?
Any of the above while dialing 911???

I would just do the posted speed limit because slowing down more just causes road rage and you never know who is in the car or what they are packing!!!!

The only time i would call 911 would be if he rammed me from behind or come up beside me and try to cut me off....

My sister, myself, my daughter and her friend were driving on  the 401 out here.  Thats a highway that goes right across Ontario... My sister was driving and that exact thing happened to her, only there is 2 or 3 lanes at all times!!!

Plenty of room to pass if you're impatient!!  But this guy rode right up on her bumper...  I was asleep and woke up to her hitting the brakes!!!  He had finally passed her and doing 140km he hits the brakes!!!!  This guy kept doing this over and over speeding up and hitting the brakes and not letting her pass...  This went on for about a half an hour when he finally got off at his exit..  My sister was definitely enraged!!!!  I told her to call the cops and they had tried....  But by the time they would have came...  He was already off!!!!  But like i said....  You never know who is in the other car and what they are capable of....  Better to play it safe.....

This thing happened to me, but it was on the EC Death Row in Windsor, I was trying to get of on Dougall, you have a limited amount of time to get off.....The worst thing about this Death Row is that the ON and OFF ramps are the basic same......The Off Ramp to Howard and the On Ramp to Dougall are the same ramp.......I put my signal on before I even got to the off ramp, I was on the right hand side of the two lanes, this woman (being nice) comes flying up Howard's off ramp and catches up to me, doesn't notice I have a signal on to turn off, she doesn't speed up or slow down so I decide to slow down, so I could get on that off ramp, she slows down at the same time and stays with me, I notice this and have to immediately speed up to onto that ramp, so it seemed like I cut her off.......But in fact, she did not notice I had my signal on way before she even got there.....The kids are in the car and told me she was flipping me the bird......I just said.....well boys you know those people are always in a hurry.  Man I wish I could have flipped her the bird, but because the boys were in the car and I'm trying to stop swearing in front of them I just kept my mouth shut......Holy Cow though I was pissed off the rest of the day because of this person......OH Well......That Death Row is so dangerous, even more now that the whole thing in under construction, so there are a lot of dumb moves on that road, I try to avoid it like the plague......

But to answer your question, I would just stay at the posted speed, flip my mirrors so I can't see him, and continue on my way......I get this all the time driving the shopper's truck...

I just love people who don't pay attention to your turning signal indicators!!!  Especially the ones who have their left truning signal on and are in the left hand turning lane but when the left hand arrow comes on, they go straight instead of turning like they were supposed to!!!  A lady did that to me just because she didn't want to wait in line for the straight through traffic!!!  Meanwhile i was making my left hand turn and almost hit her!!!

Remember Gallaghers skit about people who dirve like "A"- Holes????  He said we shoud all carry dart guns and shoot it at their back of their cars when they do something stupid and when a cop drives behind them and sees how many the have they get pulled over and get a ticket for being  an "A"-Hole!!!  Sounds good to me!!!!

Something like that happened to me Ariel.

Squeeky and I were driving home one afternoon,  I turned my left hand turn signal on at the street just prior to "Our" street.
I looked in my rearview mirror when I turned on the signal,  I saw a truck wayyyy back behind us,  no threat at all!   By the time it took us to go about 50 meters to our turnoff the truck was passing us on the left.
I barely avoided getting run over by that United States Border Patrol vehicle.  ( We live less then 40 miles from Mexico )     He swerved violently to avoid hitting us,  no emergency lights were on at all.      Squeeky was hurt by my avoidence manuever,  I was thoroughly PISSED!
I got back on the road and sped up to get the identification numbers off the truck,  like the plate # and the vehicle id #.
He sped up trying to outrun us.....           Finally at 90 MPH he couldn't go any faster and we caught up.     I wrote the #'s down and dropped down to the posted speed limit,  45 Mph.

I turned around and went straight to the Sheriff department ( on that same road )  and reported it.     They told me that there was absolutely NOTHING they could do about it.      I went ballistic!       They suggested I try the Border Patrol offices 15 miles away.

I did,  the Captain in charge listened very patiently and asked for the id #'s for the vehicle and said he knew exactly who was driving.
He then asked us what we wanted to have happen.     Squeeky and I talked it over and all we asked for was a face to face appology.      The Captain looked relieved and said he would get right on it.

The Agent never showed up,  never talked to me,  never identified himself at any time.     I later talked with the same Captain and told him that that agent never appologized and he said that he couldn't really force him to as I didn't go to the main office to file my complaint.

I learned right then the only way to deal with anything like this ever again was to go to the State commander and tell them why you are writting to the Commander of the service in Washington D.C. and to all the Senators on the various committees that control the spending for the U.S.B.P.  and to all of the states media (newspapers,  tv stations, etc...)  and to the states ACLU offices.

Never go to the LOCAL authorities,  all they will do is cover it up,      ALWAYS go straight to the top of the beurocracy(sp?) if you want anything to get done!!!!!!

That was sooo scary, he almost killed us, if Luke had'nt reacted quickly we would have roled that little car we had at the time. To this day I hate for one of them to drive
to fast behind anyone I'm with.

Wow...  Its like they are serving the law but they are exempt from the laws they are meant to uphold...  I'm glad you were able to react in time Luke and you and Squeeky were ok!!!  They should be held accountable for their wrong decisons!!!

I would keep driving the speed limit and try not to worry about the idiot behind me.
