You are driving along,  thinking about the day ahead of you.     Nothing special.
And your cell phone buzzes that unique sound that lets you know that you just got a text message.       You carefully bring it out and check the message while you are driving at the posted speed limit.
It is from someone whom you were hoping would get in touch with you,  so you answer back and they reply.       Pretty soon you are texting away and not realising that the traffic is getting thicker.

BOOM!     You just sideswiped somebody!

You were paying more attention to your texting then you were your surroundings.
What are you going to tell the police?
What are you going to tell your teenaged children?????

I hate cell phones,  I never have texted.
I have a cell,  because I need to keep in touch with my aged father,  and for the long distance because my landline is limited to local calls only.
I have gone for days without even opening it up only to find out when I do that it's battery is dead.
They are great for emergencys though.

I'm not a big fan of cell phones either, so I doubt I would be texting anyone. We have one which comes in handy for whatever emergency happens to come up.

I don't really text either.

But if I made a stupid mistake I would own up to it.

I think my kids would benefit more knowing that Mom is honest and takes responsibility when she makes a mistake.  And knowing Mom isn't perfect and doesn't expect them to be probably wouldn't hurt.

Would my daughter throw it back in my face?  You bet she would!  LOL  But I still would own up to what I did.

I know this sounds a little corny, but I drive for my job.....So when it comes to texting I'm not good at it......but for phone calls, I try to pull over and use the phone.....I guess I would probably do the same thing with texting....

My oldest just got his G2 driver's licence and I told him that he was absolutely not allowed to text or talk while he was driving......it is just to dangerous....your not just putting yourself at risk, your putting everyone else at risk as well....plus if you were caught texting, the police would make hell for you.....

I guess.....telling the police would probably be the proper thing....cuz I'm terrible at lying.....I have a stamp that blinks on my head that says LIAR, if I'm lying hehehehe.... your still gonna be the cause of the accident, so who cares how it happened, your insurance is still going to reach heaven after the accident....
