How To Make Backgrounds and Borders.

First off - you have everything you need right here with msn to make the pages i make.  let me walk you through the process.

you need what are called background tiles.

They are all over the internet for free.  some people make thier own and copyright them.  Don't steal - there are a lot of free ones.

1) To make our page today you need to download these three background tiles into msn photo albums at a group that you can post at.

if you don't know how to download photo's onto msn you need to learn.  You can do so at this group.

2) now go to a group where you can post and get ready to make a post (or a page if you are a manager - it works the same).  If you do not know how to post go here for help.

3)  now you need to open a second page.  you will need it later.

4) return to the first page.  Hit the white grid on the top of the rich tool editor.  it is between the blue link icon and the yellow post it note icon.

When you hit this a table will appear.  This is what you use to make the background.

5)  Put the following numbers in:

Rows and Columns = 1 and 1

Padding and Cell Spacing = 20 and 1  (the bigger the padding number the larger your border will be.)

at borders put in a O

6)  Now you will see Background Image URL.....

A)  go to the second page you made and to the background tiles you downloaded earlier.  open the file.  Right click on it and hit properties....

B)  look where it says Address (URL) and highlight the entire address - you will have to drag down with your mouse to get the entire address.

7) go back to your post and put your curser into where it says background image url and hit control and v.

8)  hit Padding and Spacing and create table.

you should see this:

you can put your curser into the box and make it bigger like this by using your space bar and enter key:

go ahead and play with it :)

9)  Put your curser into the box and do the same procedure over again with the next color you want to use only this time put the number 10 in padding instead of the 20.

you should get this.

if not run your curser over the graphic and delete any little black boxes you see - they make the graphic bigger so you will leave them in when you want wider boarders and remove them for thinner ones.  For now take them all out so we have the same starting point.

10)  Now do the same thing with the last tile and put a 1 in where you last but 10 in padding.  all other numbers stay the same.  Remember to put a 0 in under border width.

You should now have this.

11)  now you have to decide how wide you want your borders.  If you want yours to look like the one this is written on - run your mouse over the graphic and highlight it.  Take out all black boxes and delete them(remember you can add boxes in too if you want wider borders).

12)  Add your words and pictures and save your page or your post.

That's it.  You just have to play around with different tiles and different widths and see what you like.
Any questions please feel free to post them by hitting the link below and gina will try her hardest to help you.

Happy Page Making!
