Thanks Ich for your answer...I have heard so many debates and arguements over this question and i definitely agree with you.  Many have the thought that Jesus was a jew that we all become Jewish....once saved...how simpleminded..i can agree if one is not taught and a new believer but there are those who are mature and still believe this.
The other argument I hear is the promises that are made to the jewish person biblically is not to the christian...( certain scriptural promises...)  I believe that their are but do not get into it much...

I get Holy Ghost Bumps in reading what you wrote from Ezekiel and Is. is one of my favorite books....Thanks for being here...

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
Hebrews 8:

7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.    8For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:    9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.    10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:    11And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.    12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.    13In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrews 9

15And for this cause he [Jesus] is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.    16For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.    17For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.    18Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.    19For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,    20Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.    21Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.    22And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.    23It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.    24For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:    25Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;    26For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.    27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:    28So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

It is just so amazing when we share truth in a harmony of understanding...and think someone 1000 yrs ago came to the same truths...Amen

I agree with Ichmo, a gentile who becomes a believer in Yeshua messiah does not replace Iisrael, the "apple of God's eye."
Romans 11

28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. (or without repentance)

I have a few questions for those who believe in replacement theology.....

1. If God is done with the Jewish people, then why does Paul say in his dispensation(day and age) that Jews will one day come back to faith in Jesus?(Romans 11:24)

2. If God is done with Israel, why has he shown so much recent love toward Israel? Why has he fulfilled so much bible prophesy concerning the nation of Israel? IE, Jews coming back after their diaspora, the jews becoming a nation, the Jews wining a six day war predicted by his prophets.

3. If God has an eternal punishment on the entire Jewish nation, then why did Paul say even Jews who deny the gospel are still God's elect?

The bible clearly teaches that after the rapture, God will restore his nation- 1Thess. 4:13-18. Also, that all the tribes will be revealed by name.(Revelation 8)

God will never be done with Israel until the new earth and new heavens..in a matter of fact he will not be done with any of us...
Can a branch say it has no need of the tree or vice versa...of course not...

Good job, krull!

One small point: The gospels are so that you can believe in Jesus, and in believing in Him, you might have eternal life. They are incomplete concerning salvation, as the disciples of John the Baptist demonstrated when Paul told them the "rest of the story."

The book of Acts is the sole reference for the gospel message that saves. Anyone's experience that does not line up with the experiences of the first converts to Christianity should be questioned. We're not at liberty to say if someone is saved or not if their experience differs from the biblical accounts, but we are under compulsion to preach the same gospel and expect the same results as the original church.

Shalom group

Let me issue you all a challenge.  Take a chair and either put someone in it or pretend someone is sitting in it. Then lead them to our saviour, using nothing but the old testament. None of the apostles or deciples had any of the new testament to go by. All that Yahshua or His apostles and first century saints taught was from the old testament.

It will show you just about how close you are to teaching what they taught.

Shalom

Hello,

I find it amazing that no one answered the question.  Where in the bible do you go to find out how to be saved?  The answer is Romans 10:9  That if thou shall confess with thy mought the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

This reply is to the question "What does the Word mean when it says you are in Christ whether we be Jews or Gentiles?

When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you become a member of the Body of Christ.  Think of Congress.  Congress has many members.  The scriptures below is not referring to people who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Jews who are under the Law are under the old covenant and Christians are under the new covenant.  The new covenant is a better covenant which God created to bring all nations back to himself.  The Jews were suppose to be the first to come under the new covenant and some of them were.  When you look at the Apostles and the early Christians, they were Jews who received Christ and followed Jesus teachings.  Unfortunately, there were Jews who rejected Jesus as the Christ and continue to reject him to this day.  It was always God's original plan to bring all nations back to himself, he just started with the Hebrews.  He had to start with somebody.  I don't mean that in a bad way, but God is no respector of persons.  I have found that statement in the bible at least a dozen times.  I find that some people act as if you are better or more important to God if you are a Jew, but this is not true.  Christians are called sons of God, chosen as well, and a royal priesthood.  God is not limited, he   choose as many people as his people as he likes.  Not that we claim to be better than any of mankind.  All nations are welcome to receive Christ and become the children of the most high God.  In the Body of Christ, we are not to have divisions.
1 Corinthians 12:25 says,  there should be no schism (division) in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

God is bringing us into the unity of the faith and we are on our way.

Genesis 18:18
Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
Ephesians 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Hey Valln!

Glad for your post 34, incorrect though it is. Several people have given an answer to the lead post's question. That it does not suit you invalidates the answers offered not one whit.

Check out the main board for news of our migration to Multiply and Yahoo. I'll bring your post over there later and we can cross swords on it if you like.

NO ONE is saved UNLESS they have answered the call from God unto salvation that HIS SON, Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY unto salvation....not by works of any kind, shape or form, not by being baptized in a pool of water, for this act is AN INDICATION to prove to others that you are accepting Jesus for who He is and what HE did on that cross, and by confessing the need of mercy and grace from God through Jesus, and repenting of one's sins (denial of self) and living a life found acceptable to God.

giggle.

Are you saved by faith alone or what? If you are, then why say a thing about baptism or confession or repentance? If those works are not saving works, that means that they are worthless. If you are saved by faith alone, then there is no more involved in your salvation. Close the book and put it down! You don't need another word of it. You have everything that you need to be saved at the point of belief in Jesus Christ.

Could it be that James' teaching gives you fits? The kind of faith that has no works behind it is dead faith, and therefore, it is not saving faith. Hence, yak all you want about being saved by faith alone. It's not a done deal until it is manifested by works. That means that the works are not worthless. That means that they are necessary and on the same salvific level as faith. You cannot have one without the other. You cannot receive the Holy Ghost without faith. You can be baptized without faith, but Jesus did not say that whosoever was baptized would be saved. He said whosoever believes AND is baptized would be saved. The final work, then, is not yours but God's. You cannot get the Holy Ghost without God! And He doesn't give it to people who do not have faith to believe they can have it.

Obedience to the gospel as preached by the Apostles in Acts is salvation for it is the manifestation of the "good works" that James references that demonstrates the acceptance of Jesus Christ's death (repentance), burial (baptism) and resurrection (infilling of the Holy Ghost as evidenced by speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance). The gospel is the power of God unto salvation to every one who believes. Evidence of belief is demonstrated in obedience to the command to be baptized and the "seal of approval" from God upon a person's faith is given when their response to the gospel results in a supernatural sign from Him that He has taken control of an individual's tongue.

The same experience that the first believers recorded when they believed is still available for believers today....and so is a counterfeit experience. The same gospel that was preached on the day of Pentecost is still being preached today....and so is a counterfeit gospel. The same salvation that was offered at the beginning of the age of grace is still being offered today....and so is a countefeit salvation.

God Himself makes the difference seen and known between the true and the false to those who are seeking after Him in truth. Those who are not, He turns over to believe in a counterfeit. It is the Word of God that brings those differences into light.

Baptism is a step of obedience we take as a result of our faith in the Lord. The Etheopian Eunuch said to Philip "See here is water, what doth hinder me from being baptised?" Philip replied "If thou believest with all thine heart thou mayest." We share in our Lord's death by going into the water, and are raised again in newness of life. It is symbolic of Christ's death and resurection. The other two you mention are needed for salvation. ?Without faith it is impossible to please God." Bob Wood
