Here's something to think about.  I always pictured Samson in the book of Judges as a huge man with muscles, like a body builder.  What recently dawned on me is that if Samson had muscles, why were the Philistines trying to find out where he got his strength.  If Samson had huge muscles, wouldn't the Philistines assume his strength came from his muscles.  This means that Samson must have been either an average guy or even a small or thin guy.  Although, we know no razor was to touch Samson's head, we see in the end that his strength ultimately came from God.

It wasn't an ordinary strength, obviously. But you take too many liberties with scripture to imply either position that he had bulging muscles or that he didn't have bulging muscles.

What you see in the end is not exactly the mere observation that Samson's strength came from God...it is that his strength came from God as long as he maintained his vow upon his sacred head.

Which is a pretty good smack upon the cheek to the OSAS position, if you ask me.

Just wondering how much hair he must have had on his head by then.
I don't think it mention his age but it does say he rule as judged 20 years.

Probly longer than the women hair.

Kiki,

I think most people would assume Samson had big muscles because muscles give strength.  Do you know any weak body builders?

In the end Samson did not maintain his vow because a razor touched his head.  Samson prayed to God for strength as you can see below:

Judges 13:5  For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

Judges 16:19  And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

Judges 16:28   And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

You think there were no Philistines with muscles?
