Bro. Bryan, it is the believer's responsibility to BELIEVE - Christ said "Without ME you can do NOTHING."
Everything I do right I do right because Christ indwells me. "Walk in the Spirit..." and what? "...and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh." That PROVES that everything I do right I do because of Christ leading me by the Holy Spirit.
Everything I do wrong I do because of my flesh leading ME. God never leads me to do wrong.
Christ died for ALL my sins. Not some of them. ALL of them.
Brother, it is ALL CHRIST and NONE OF US. Every time there is SOME OF US, we sin. We err. We fail. Why? Because the flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh. I contributed nothing to salvation. I believed, but I believed with the faith that Christ gave me. It is all Christ - all the good. And it is all MrWonder - all the bad.
Don't worry about accountability because God will exact what is right from you. Never fear; you will reap what you sow. As for PAYMENT of sins, past and present, Christ paid for ALL MY SINS, not some of them.
I never said one word about "mental acknowledgement". Not a word. To BELIEVE on Jesus Christ means to trust in Him, rely on Him, depend on Him and Him alone to be one's Lord and one's Saviour. When you do that, brother, everything will change. "If any man be in Christ he is a new creation - old things pass away and behold, all things are become new".
You cannot add one cubit to your stature by taking thought. You can't die for your sins. Christ already did. Not only did He DO it all but He DOES it all in the believer even now. I do right when Christ is in CONTROL - I do wrong when MrWonder is in CONTROL. So not only did I not contribute to my salvation on the Cross, I don't see where I contribute anything to my sanctification now, either, for the Bible says I am predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. The Holy Spirit conforms me; I don't.
So what's my part? I surrender all; I surrender all; All to Thee my blessed Saviour; I surrender all.
Surrender to Christ; study to show thyself approved to God and man; and continue in prayer and thanksgiving; and give all glory to God through Jesus Christ and it shall be well with thee.
