This is a tut on how I taught myself to make sliders. I did it by experimenting (just learned today, lol) and followed no other tuts. There are probably much easier tutorials out there on how to do this, but here's my version. I have the later versions of PSP...but I still like version 7 the best, so this was done in version 7..however, I'm sure you can do it, with a few adjustments, in the other versions.
Supplies needed for this Tut:
Paint Shop Pro
Animation Shop
My Supplies (clover tube; stpattys hat; green twink; and Riesling font...are attached below)
* Put these supplies in a folder where it'll be easy for you to find. ;)
Ready? Okay...let's begin!
Open a new image in PSP
Settings shown below:
It's a tad big, but we'll be cropping it later
Now click on your Text tool and click on your blank image you just opened.
Your Text Entry box will appear. Use the settings shown below:
Use the nodes to pull your text up and over to the size you'd like, we can always crop and resize later if needed.
Once you have your text the way you want it,
click > Layers > Convert to Raster Layer
Now you can add any effects to your text that you prefer..(Super Blade Pro, Glass, etc.)...on mine I just used an Inner Bevel and a Drop Shadow.
The settings are shown below:
Inner Bevel
Drop Shadow
Merge>Merge Visible
Now let's add the St. Pattys hat. Open your hat tube and copy and 'paste as a new layer' onto your text image. Then place it anywhere you want it to go. I placed mine on the last letter of my name, but put it wherever you think it looks the best. ( *you may need to resize it according to how small you want it,) I resized mine 80%. I then used the deformation tool to turn it at an angle a bit to fit over my letter.
Once your tube is in place, Add your watermark or any copyright information...
(make sre you're using safe tubes!)...
then > Merge>Merge Visible
Open your Layer Palette and rename this layer "Name"
Crop it down a bit, but leave enough space to add the Twinks we'll be adding in Animation Shop ;-)
Open your clover tube. Copy and paste as a new image onto your name image. You will probably need to resize it according to the size of your name. I resized mine 60%.
Click > Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom > Rename this Layer> Clover
Place your clover inside of your chosen letter..letters with the big round hoops are best, such as a's, b's, 'c's..etc. I chose the 'a' on mine. Place it in the upper right of your letter, like so:
*Do NOT merge*
Once you have it in place..click > Edit > "Copy Merged"
Open Animation Shop, then click > Edit > "Paste as New Animation"
Go back to PSP and with your mover tool, mover the clover slightly down a bit making sure you keep it touching the side of your letter, but not going outside of it.
Again, click > Edit > "Copy Merged"
Back to Animation Shop, now click > Edit > "Paste AFTER current frame"
so far you have two frames in AS, but we'll end up with about 9.
Back to PSP, again move the clover slightly down a bit more, keeping it next to your letter.
Again, click > Edit > "Copy Merged"
Back to Animation Shop, >Edit > "Paste AFTER current frame"
Back to PSP
* Continue doing this with each of your clovers, until you have moved your clover half way around your letter and they've all been "pasted AFTER the current frame" in Animation Shop.
Now minimize your PSP...we won't be needing it anymore, but I like to keep it open, just in case I have to go back ;)
With your Animation Shop open, you should now have six frames.
Click > Edit > Select None.
Now click on frame #5, making it active. Right click and copy it. Move over to frame #6, click on it to make it the active frame and right click and "Paste after current frame.
Go back and click on frame #4. Right click and copy it. Move over to frame #7, click on it to make it active, right click and "Paste after current frame".
Go back and click on frame #3. Right click and copy it. Move over to frame #8, click on it to make it active, right click and "Paste after current frame".
Okay, we now have 9 frames. Click on the folder icon in Animation Shop and find where you put the green twink. Click on it, then click > Open.
It should now be opened in animation shop. You'll see that it has 9 frames, just like our tag.
Make sure your twink is active by clicking on it.
Now go to > Edit > Select All > Edit > Propagate Paste > Edit > Copy
(this copies all 9 frames of your twink)
Now make your tag image active by clicking on it.
Click on > Edit > Select All > Edit > Paste into Current frame.
The twink will appear as a green dot at this point, using your mouse, place the twink where you would like it do go then left click. It is now pasted into each frame.
Go back to Edit > Paste into Current frame and continue pasting twinks until you have them where you want them. You can put as many or as little as you like. It's your choice ;)
With all your frames still selected, click Animation at the top of your screen, then click on "Frame Properties", a box will then appear...type in the number 24, click OK.
Crop around your tag, getting rid of all the excess space and you're done!
Click on "View Animation"
now you should see your clover and twinks moving!
Click on "File" > then "Save As"...
Name your Tag...click save
then more boxes will appear...
Click > Next
Click > Next
Click > Next
Click > Finish
That's it! Finally, lol
I hope that you were able to follow this tut. It can get pretty confusing sometimes, but if you have any questions or run into any problems, just post it here and I'll do my best to help you asap!
The possiblities are endless on this tag...this tut shows a St. Patty's Day themed tag, but you can use all sorts of tubes, but make sure they're small as to fit inside the name without distorting the image too much and copyright safe!. Also, use colors for your font that coordinate with the tube you're using as your slider.
Thanks for trying my tut!
