Is it just me, or do people in Los Angeles have no proper training in matters of etiquette? Dave and I had a Christmas party a few weeks ago, and I decided that instead of just inviting our small circle of friends, we would invite colleagues of mine from my law firm. The people I invited were among the nicest people I worked with and got along very cordially with. Well, guess what? Out of 12 people, only 5 RSVP'd. The rest blew me off. And then one of them had the nerve to ask "So, how was your party?"  Two people who RSVPd yes ended up sick, but didn't bother to email me to let me know about that, either. Dave and I overspent on food by about $75 - which, considering that only one of us is working outside the home right now, is a lot of money. Thank God we like turkey and we could freeze what we didn't serve.

I guess things aren't like they used to be, but really, can't people just say yes or no? In the age of "They're just not that into you" people need only say no.
