West Virginia has made it to the "Elite 8" for the 1st time since 1959. Among those on the '59 squad were state natives Jerry West and Ronnie Retton (father of gymnast, Mary Lou Retton). They made it to the championship game, losing to California 71-70. Congratulations to the '05 squad and good luck.

That was a great game, Ray!~ Congratulations to you and every other Mountanieer fan.  For everyone in the March Madness contest, things have really gone "Mad" It is just a great time of year for college basketball.  Tonight at 7pm Michigan State plays Duke!  I hope Michigan State wins, they deserve it.........................actually all those kids on every team have put in their one shining moment and I wish everyone could win.

David Barrett who now resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan, wrote
One Shining Moment. David went to school (MSU) in East Lansing.  He was waiting for a friend at a local restaurant. He wrote the song on a napkin,  went home after lunch and wrote the music, it took him 13 minutes to write the music. He then tossed what was to become a very well known song, into his bureau drawer.

Then in 1985, he was visiting a friend in New York City who just happened to write for Sports Illustrated. They were watching the NBA Finals, talking about sports and life and he  remembered that he had written this song about sports and achievement, so when he got home, David sent "One Shining Moment" to his friend.   The Friend took it over to CBS without David knowing, CBS called David up out of the blue.?nbsp;  David now resides in Ann Arbor.  We will always all remember One Shining Moment because for One Shining Moment, the kids on our favorite team were heros and they shined.
